Hi I'm Melissa

I grew up in Tennessee, and I now live in British Columbia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I studied business management in university in the US and then moved to Canada where I worked in marketing for a couple of years at a small business post graduation. I loved working, but I knew that there was more to life than business. My husband and I decided to start a family. It was the best decision! I am now the happy mother of a baby boy that loves to crawl and steal hearts with his adorable smile. I'm still able to work on a few projects from home, and for me, I wouldn't have it any other way. Being a wife and mother filled an empty space in my life I love my family!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have faith in Jesus Christ. That faith is strengthen by my participation in this church. The more I learn the teachings and live the standards of the church, the closer I feel to my Savior and the more I know about Him and my Heavenly Father. Living as a member of the church makes me happy. One of the best ways that I've come to love being a Mormon, is by reading the Book of Mormon. I study it everyday, and combined with prayer, I feel peace and new light refreshed in my life everyday. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I also love being a Mormon, because I have the opportunity to worship in temples. The temple is a sacred place that we consider to be the house of God. I feel His presence there. I love that feeling. My husband and I were married in the temple, and we were sealed with a promise that our marriage would last for eternity - 'not till death do us part'. Having my family be forever means everything to me. Being a Mormon makes my life fuller and happier, because I am closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ than I would be otherwise. I have faith in Him, and that faith is strengthen by my religion.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving in the church and community. One way I serve is by teaching the teenage girls in my congregation. It's an awesome experience to get to know them and to be their friend and mentor. They are so full of life; often they teach me just as much as I teach them. I also direct the choir for our congregation. Music is a huge part of my life, and I love sharing that with the members of the choir, and with the congregation when we sing. It is a beautiful way to share meaningful, uplifting messages. Often, hymns help me remember truth in unique and powerful way. One of the highlights of choir is when we sing at retirement homes or hospitals during the holidays. There's nothing like bringing Christmas cheer to people who are away from home and hurting. For me, it's one of the best ways to celebrate Christmas. I'm also take part of a program for the women of the church to visit the homes of each women every month - it's called visiting teaching. I've made lasting friendships from making and receiving these visits. Each time we meet, we share a gospel message. It's uplifting and helps me know and understand my sisters in the church.
