Hi I'm Brittany

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently completed a Master's degree in Public Administration, and will be serving a full-time mission from May 2013-November 2014. I focused my studies on nonprofit management and social innovation and am passionate about the potential that we all have to make a difference in this world. I am going on a mission to help others realize their divine potential, and I hope to continue doing that even after my mission as an advocate for education. I love adventures--trying new things and going to places I've never been. There's something exhilarating about tackling a task when you don't know at the start if you have the ability to accomplish it! My mission is my newest adventure, but in the past I have conquered mountains, learned to play racquetball, moved to a city where I didn't know anyone, and taken many spontaneous weekend road trips. I have ambitions to go sky diving and bungee jumping sometime in my life, and when I get off my mission I look forward to travelling outside of the United States, an adventure I haven't had the money to experience. On my less adventurous days, I love to read, play and listen to music, and watch movies with my family and friends. Despite all of these hobbies, the most important part of me is that I am a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father.

Why I am a Mormon

Some people might think I'm a Mormon because my parents are Mormons. I come from "Pioneer Stock"--many of my ancestors on both sides of my family lived in Nauvoo in the early days of the church, served in the Mormon Battalion, and made the trek out west. Most of my extended family still lives in Utah, and I get mistaken for a Utah Mormon all the time--probably because I'm a huge jello fan! However, I am a member of this church today because I have learned for myself the love that my Heavenly Father has for me. I know that He is concerned for my welfare and the welfare of every individual that has lived, does live, and will live on this Earth. I know that He hears and answers prayers. I know that His greatest desire is for us to attain what He has and to return to live with Him. I know that He still speaks to us today both through modern prophets and through the quiet whisperings of the Holy Ghost. I know that He teaches us line upon line, precept on precept--and he CANNOT do this unless He continues to teach us new things. I am a member of the church because when I read the Book of Mormon I can feel the Holy Ghost teaching me about and pointing me toward Jesus Christ. I have learned that when I rely on Him and on the saving power of His Atonement, I can do all things. I love the Lord, and I love the peaceful assurance he gives me as I go about His work.

How I live my faith

Currently I am serving as a full-time missionary, an emissary of the Lord sent to bring others unto Christ. However, in the past I have organized weekly and monthly events for my community, visited and uplifted individuals in my area, and managed a branch of the church's worldwide women's organization. I try to be a constant example of a disciple of Christ. The gospel is my life; I hope that everything I do is a demonstration of my faith. I'm not perfect, but I have faith that if I continuously strive to learn about and follow Christ, my actions will reflect my devotion to Him.
