Hi I'm Sean O'Rourke

I'm a student and a musician. I'm a missionary serving in the Scotland/Ireland Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I'm Sean. I'm finishing my missionary service for the LDS church in June 2013--I have grown to love Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Scotland, and the people here! After I return home, I will complete my education at university, studying advertising and business. I grew up all over the east coast of the United States, moving with my dads job. I am passionate about music. I play the guitar and banjo, but most of all I love to sing. I love to play shows and record, but most of all I like playing for small groups of close friends. There's just something nice about that. Though all these things are important, my family and my faith are most important to me. Music, school, and everything else--they take a back seat. Hopefully that gives you a decent idea of just who I am.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I love Heavenly Father. I've spent the last few years of my life trying to understand how I can come closer to Him, and become more like Him on a daily basis. Only one church on this earth teaches me what I can do on a daily basis to make this happen--and that Church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. While I've known and loved many other teaching from different churches and cultures around the world, none have brought me closer to God than those in this church. For me, the hardest part was having an open heart--being open to think, "well yeah, maybe I don't have it all." I guess more accurately, I had to humble myself to what God wanted for me, rather than what Sean wanted for Sean. And since I've had the courage to do that, my life has been so much happier. And now, I'm a mormon.

How I live my faith

People in the church serve in many different responsibilities. Our goal is always to help individuals and families feel lifted and inspired. All positions are volunteer. Right now, I'm serving as a full time missionary. As missionaries, we actively serve the community, and teach other about the gospel of Jesus Christ. We run free english classes, teach guitar lessons, and do other community outreach efforts. We serve like this, full time, for 2 years, giving all our time and attention to nothing but service! These have been the most rewarding, but also the most tiring years of my life! I have loved every day of my service. I've love the relationship I've built with God, and also with people around me. I've seen and discovered the faces of different cultures, languages, and lifestyles, and I've been privileged to see God change lives for the better. Serving has been a blessing.
