Hi I'm Heather

I am a middle school math teacher, wife, and mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy spending time with my family. I am married to a wonderful man and we have one son. Our son was born 8 weeks premature and brought many complications with him. We spent most of the first three years of his life in and out of operating rooms and hospitals. For the last several years he has been very healthy and is almost over his fear of people wearing scrubs and rubber gloves! My husband and I are both teachers so we have plenty of time over the summer to do lots of fun things together as a family.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents taught me to attend church regularly and the importance of the Savior's sacrifice as a child, although it was not the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS Church) that we attended. As a teenager I had a best friend and boyfriend who were both members of the LDS Church. I made a decision to learn from the missionaries exactly what it was that they believed. As I learned about the Book of Mormon and the Restoration of the Gospel, I knew what the missionaries were teaching me was the truth. I decided that I needed to be baptized into the LDS Church. It was difficult to tell my parents as they did not agree with my decision but they were supportive. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that there are prophets and apostles on the earth today to lead and guide us. I have prayed to my Heavenly Father and have received a testimony of this through the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I regularly attend church and assist in teaching the young children (up to age 12) each Sunday. It is my responsibility to make sure that each class has a teacher during the Sunday school portion of the meeting and to help with a short activity and singing time that the children all come together for. Children are such a blessing and I am sure that I learn more from them than they learn from me each week. At home I help my husband to teach our son about the gospel. I also have personal study and prayer time where I am always learning something new through the power of the Holy Ghost. I have also spent time with the missionaries helping those who are curious about our beliefs to better understand what our church believes.
