Hi I'm Don

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Dalene and I just celebrated 25 years of marriage. They’ve all been wonderful; there’s never a dull moment with Dalene. We've raised our family in Northern California, but Southern California is home. We have five children; our two oldest sons live and work here in the bay area, our oldest daughter is serving a mission in Nicaragua, and our two youngest are at BYU and Utah State respectively. We have two wonderful daughters-in-law and a little grandson. We love our children and love to spend time together with them. Outside of being a husband and father, I'm a CPA working as VP of Tax for a well-known internet company. It keeps me out of trouble and from being a nuisance at home. My father likewise was an accountant. I vowed to not follow his footsteps professionally, but retracted that vow when unable to excel in any other college major. Despite my best efforts to discourage him, our second oldest son is on that same professional tract; hopefully someday he will find more suitable employment. Our youngest son, when in a foul mood, threatens to become an accountant also. Dalene is a Registered Nurse, my mother was an RN and our oldest daughter is an RN. The other two are on their own chosen career paths. I pray accounting and nursing are not in their future; this pattern seems a little too weird. I used to have hobbies, but then I got a job, got married and had children (in that order). Looking back over the last 25 years, I've been very happy with the overall outcome.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I love the Lord and wish to give generously of myself in his cause. I am drawn to Him because of the peace and happiness He brings into my life. Being a husband and a father are eternal responsibilities and roles; I need all the help I can get to succeed in that life-long adventure. The Church is here to bless us as a family and to provide me the guidance and support I need to lead my family. I need what the Lord and His Church have to offer me.

How I live my faith

I strive to put the welfare of others ahead of my own selfish interests (and I have many). Unfortunately, I cannot always claim an extraordinarily high success rate in that effort. Dalene does a much better job of looking out for others. She can always sense when people are in need, and then she worries about them more than they worry about themselves. She never hesitates to offer help and I then somehow get caught up in all the action (willingly or not). How I love and appreciate her.
