Hi I'm Andrea

I'm a Mother, a wife, a runner, a traveler, a School Counselor and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 27 years old and we're going to have our first kid in August- a little girl. My husband and I are High School sweethearts, but because of us each deciding to serve an LDS mission, we didn't get married for 7 years after High School. He served in Argentina for 2 years and I served in Palmyra, New York for a year and a half. We didn't start dating after high school until after my missionary service was completed. We both just graduated with Master's degrees. His is in Business and mine is in Education. We love to travel, be outside, run, bike, and be with family and friends. Although I worked hard at obtaining my education for my profession, I'm going to stay home with our kids. Someone told me that High School kids will always be there to counsel, but your kids only grow up once.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I truly know for myself that Joseph Smith is a prophet who restored the church of Jesus Christ to the Earth again. Although both of my parents are Mormon, I'm the type of person who needed to know for myself before I chose to live my life this way. In all my encounters with other Faiths, I've never seen a church embrace Jesus Christ and His teachings in a way that permeates every aspect of your life. Without the Bible and the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ, I would fail to know the mercy and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. I'm also a Mormon because of the strong emphasis put on families. With the experience I've had as a School Counselor I've seen how degrading family situtations can affect teens. These adolescents struggle with school and friendships when their families aren't in tact or supportive. Families are essential to raising a society that promotes peace in a troubled world. There are many other reasons I choose to live this Faith, but the last I'll mention is how this Faith gives women leadership roles. I belong to the largest orginization for women in the world- the Relief Society which strives to help lift up those in physical, spiritual, or temporal need. My church teaches that a women's role here on Earth is fundamental to our families, fellow church members, and communities.

How I live my faith

I was called to serve as one of the leaders in my local Relief Society chapter. I have been able to meet with and administer to a large number of women in my community. We have helped by bringing food to those in need, helping women find jobs, and administering to the emotional and psychological well-being of those around us. These experiences have helped me understand the significance of the Savior's mortal ministry. Every day I start my morning off with prayer. My husband and I read the scriptures together each night, say a family prayer, and have individual prayer. We try and think of the example of the Savior often and we try hard to do as He would. We feel grateful to be a part of a church that continuously teaches us how to be like Him.
