Hi I'm Jen Orr

I'm a mom, I am happy, I have hope for the future and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mom of six kids and wife of a hard-working, wonderful man. We are very busy as he is finishing up his residency to become a doctor and our children are in activities at school and at home. We live far from our families but have become part of a new community. I love finding joy in the small things that can easily be missed in the crazy pace of life. I love seeing things from my children's perspective and learning from their innocence and simple understanding. I think we can be happy in almost any situation if we decide to be.

Why I am a Mormon

I know God is real and wants us all to be happy. I know he hasn't made the directions to navigate this life a mystery. There are scriptures and living prophets and prayer to guide us through all of the uncertainties and challenges. I need to feel his love and guidance every day to help me be patient and productive and to be of any help to those around me. I see the gospel of Jesus Christ as just that an explanation of where I came from, what is important and what I need to do to make good choices to live to my full potential. It is a path to follow, directions, purpose, comfort, and best of all, it gives me worth. I am important and who I am really does matter.

How I live my faith

Sundays I teach the 12 and 13 year old youth. Throughout the week my choices are influenced by commitments I've made to be kind, forgiving, helpful, or useful. I am motivated by my love for Jesus Christ who has done so much for me. I also recognize the blessings in my life that come from living without addictions and freedom from the heartache that accompany selfish and purposeless lifestyles. I have learned through experiences that God keeps his promises and following the teachings of the Savior makes me happier than trying to succeed on my own agenda.
