Hi I'm Melissa

I'm a Mormon. I used to be a high school AP History teacher but now I'm a stay at home mom to two beautiful little girls.

About Me

I love to embroider and crochet-but that's the limits of my crafty arts. What I love the best is going to history places and learning more about our past. The way everything relates in time and places is very interesting to me. I also love being a mom and being able to see my daughters grow each day. Their discoveries are somewhat like a treasure of wonderful memories to me. I do miss being able to teach students to love history but at least I know I can do that will my daughters when they are older. I have a blood disorder which limits the amount of activity I do which was discovered during one of my pregnancy's but I still do as much as I can out in the outdoors. I'm married to a Navy officer so we move quite a bit, and get to see and do a lot of things many people don't get to.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a member. My mother passed away when I was 18 and I really had to choose to be one at that point. It was hard for me to go to church in college where I felt everything was all wrong since my own family had fallen apart after Mom passed away. But I then had a realization that the only way to get my family back to the way its supposed to be, was to focus on the principles of the gospel, like the golden rule, and Christ's commandment As I have loved you, love one another. It took some time to get back to where I was before my mother passed away, but I eventually got there.

How I live my faith

I participate in my church to the best of my ability. I Visit teach, have visiting teachers come to my home, I go to church every Sunday and I try to volunteer in my area. I have only recently moved to Nevada, so I'm still getting the routine down for this area. But in past areas I did food drives, clothing drives, quilting drives, Support your sailors drives, all through the help of the women in the church. I've taught small children, Young women, played Piano, and even taught Sunday school in various wards across the country and plan on doing so for a long time.
