Hi I'm Sapphire.

I'm biracial. I work as a school counselor for kids and their families. I like dogs far more than I should. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of four girls. I was born and raised in Florida. I got my B.S. in Psychology in Florida then moved to Colorado where I spent the last few years working and attending graduate school. I recently graduated with my MSW and work as a school-based counselor for kids with mental health and behavioral issues.I strongly believe in the power of the human-animal connection and training my dogs to incorporate them in my therapeutic career. I just got married to my best friend in a temple of the Lord and have received such joy and peace from that decision. I love reading, writing, and watching psychological thrillers. I can toss and catch more grapes in my mouth than anyone I know.

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate enough to be raised in the Church and learn from my youth that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and wants me to return to live with Him someday. As I grew older, I took the opportunity to read the Book of Mormon all the way through on several occasions. I prayed to know of its validity, and received a confirmation that the teachings and testimonies written in it are true. As I have gone through trials in my life, I have been able to be strengthened by my faith in Jesus Christ. I have received numerous witnesses in my mind and in my heart that the path I am on is where I'm supposed to be. I am grateful for the immense blessings that I have received through my obedience to God's commandments and His infinite grace.

How I live my faith

I was recently sealed for time and all eternity to my wonderful husband in a temple, a House of the Lord. In temples, we will be able to receive the supreme blessing of being sealed together in an eternal marriage. I am grateful that we have the opportunity to form forever families while here on earth. While I am not able to discuss my personal faith with clients I see for therapy, I try my hardest to be Christlike in my work with them. I hope that through my countenance, they can see the light of Christ within me and feel the love that our Savior has for them as well.

What is being a Mormon like?

Sapphire.
Being a Mormon is a probably a lot like being you. We go to school, we play sports, we quote movies, we make internet memes, we like ice cream. We also try to pray and study the scriptures daily, go to church, and serve those around us. We love our families and friends, we try to show Christ's love in word and deed, we hope to become closer to Him each day. People are usually surprised when they learn that I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They seem to think that being Mormon equals denying yourself any pleasures or fun. Clearly they have never been to a mocktail party or YSA (young single adult) dance... Show more Show less
