Hi I'm Kenny

I grew up in a a small town in Wyoming, love to run track, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am came from a small town, and spent most of my life involved in athletics. I love playing American football and running track, and developed a love for soccer as a missionary. I am a student, and love the life that comes with it.

Why I am a Mormon

My father is a convert to the Church, and my mother has been a member her whole life. I grew up in a gospel oriented home, and learned the teachings of the Church from an early age. However, I reached a point when I needed to know for myself, and I really desired to know if it was true. I never had a spectacular moment of conversion, but I have learned steadily over my life that the Church, and all it teaches, is true. I have developed that testimony through reading the Book of Mormon, and most importantly, praying to receive the strength to live the Gospel. I love the Savior, and I know that He lives. I have seen Him change my life, and He helped me through the most difficult points in my life.

How I live my faith

I served a full-time mission in England and Wales, where I spent two years teaching people about the Gospel. I learned there to appreciate the power in studying the scriptures and praying. I think the best way to live my faith is simply by doing, rather than sitting back and letting the world batter me around. Something I've really come to appreciate is that faith is a principle of action, and that requires effort on my part. By doing things, such as reading the Book of Mormon, I've became a better and more faithful person.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

In a very short answer, no. We recognize Joseph as a prophet, and that is his role in our lives. He was a great man who did many important things, but everything he did was under the direction of God and Jesus Christ. I personally feel that the Lord loves me as much as he loves Joseph, and the same principle extends to all people. Do we sing songs about him? Yes. Do we speak of him often? Yes. Do we think that Joseph Smith is a being worthy of worship? No. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is a revelation from God that explains how we should take care of our bodies. The Lord has specifically taught us to exclude alcohol, tobacco, coffee, tea, and illicit drugs from our lifestyle. What's great, however, is that the blessings received from living the Word of Wisdom make all the difference in a persons life. I personally have received the health and strength to be able to participate in collegiate athletics, as well as being able to live a happy, healthy life off of the track. Many people see the Word of Wisdom as a list of no-no's, which isn't really the case. It excludes certain things, but most importantly, it teaches us to respect and take care of our bodies.
