Hi I'm Nathan

I'm a photographer, I'm a cross-country runner, I love music and dancing, I'm a nature lover, a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in a town called Okotoks in Alberta, Canada. It's a great town full of friendly people and friends. I have an amazing family of 4 brothers and 3 sisters (one sister-in-law) who are supportive and loving. Things are never perfect; we certainly have our struggles, but we work though them together. I love photography; honestly, there is nothing more enjoyable to me than getting that perfect shot! I especially love taking pictures of nature. I find the flowers, the trees, the skyline, the world around me breathtaking and perfect. I find it so very peaceful going off to some quiet place and just letting all my worries go, to just have a moment in my busy life to think, ponder, and just talk to Heavenly Father. I also love to run; I didn't really get into running until I tried cross country in High School. After that I have always loved the thrill of pushing my limits, not so much in speed but in distance. Sure going fast is great, but keeping a steady and constant pace, going kilometer after kilometer, never giving up. It often makes me think of how life is; you keep going one step at a time, pushing through one obstacle after another. It is never easy but it sure is satisfying! Every so often I enjoy a bit of basketball mostly because I'm so tall. Right now I'm a missionary serving in Nebraska, going about each day serving others and teaching the beliefs I love. Every minute is definitely filled with a bit of adventure but I love it and learn something new each day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was about 14 years-old when I really started wondering if the church was true. I grew up in the church, I did the things I was asked to do, go to church, read scriptures, pray, etc. It wasn't until this time in my life that I began to question it. I had really begun to notice a difference between me and everyone else. I felt like I didn't belong, that I wasn't accepted I felt alone. I would try to fit in, try to be a part of this group or that group but I just didn't feel accepted. I felt so confused about who, and what, was wrong or right. I then began to seriously seek out God. I wanted to know if there really was a Heavenly Father who knew me, loved me, and accepted me. After months of prayer and searching the scriptures I finally found out. It had been a very difficult day; I was feeling depressed, frustrated, confused, and tired. I soon found myself on my knees praying, pleading in tears to know if He was there. In the middle of my pleading I felt an immense love fill my soul. It was beautiful, it felt like all my burdens and struggles had been taken. I cannot adequately describe this experience but I knew from that point on that God, or Heavenly Father, does love and know me, and that Jesus Christ really is my Savior who has provided the way back to my Father in Heaven. I know that Heavenly Father answered my prayer. Later, after much prayer and study of the Book of Mormon, I came to know that Joseph Smith is prophet and that this is Christ's church and Gospel.

How I live my faith

Ever since these experiences, and many more I have had in living this gospel and searching for truth, I have done my best to serve and help others in anyway I can. In High School I worked hard at my studies and did my best to support the student council their and peer support. I have served in leadership positions and as a teacher in my church. I have helped with service projects both sponsored by the community and the church. I've worked hard at No Frills saving money to go and serve a two-year mission for my church and now here I am serving in the Nebraska Omaha Mission in the United States. I have seen countless times how my belief in Christ, and action on that belief, has strengthened and blessed me and all those around me. It isn't easy but it is so much easier knowing Christ is there every step of the way, that a loving Father in Heaven is listening to me and guiding me, and that by following His guidance I can be truly happy. Having this in my life; I can't help but feel a desire to share these truths as a missionary and help others to find out for themselves. I try my best to do what Jesus Christ would do each day by being sincere and expressing my genuine love to others, to help them see who they really are in the eyes of a loving Heavenly Father. I spend my days helping others with service of all sorts, helping as many people as I can come closer to Christ. I help others, to feel for themselves, the love of their Father in Heaven and receive a fullness of the blessings He has to offer. I have felt the love of my Heavenly Father myself and have received many blessings by His merciful and loving hand. It is because I have felt of this great love myself that I have chosen to serve a mission and share it with all. I know that these blessings and love can only be found in this the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ that is again on the earth. I have never been happier than when I am engaged in this work of serving as a representative of Jesus Christ!

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Nathan
The missionaries share a wonderful message of Jesus Christ and His perfect and original church that has been restored to the earth through a prophet like Moses or Abraham. They teach about God's perfect plan for us to return to Him answering question like, where we before this life, why are we here, and where we are going. They teach the perfect gospel of Jesus Christ that can help us to change our lives and become truly happy as well as return to God. Finally they teach the commandments that God has given us up this point in time through prophets. Commandments that if kept bring great protection, blessings, and strength though the difficulties of life. Show more Show less
