Hi I'm Ryan

I play several musical instruments and love to read and write science fiction. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending college as a Biology major and plan on going to dental school next year. I love being healthy and in shape - I have run a marathon and am currently training for a half Ironman. I have played piano for 16 years, guitar for 8 and drums for 6. I especially enjoy playing classical music such as Chopin. I also am in a hip hop dance club at my university. I have loved reading and writing books since I was very young and have a goal to publish a novel in the future (whenever I can). I am the third of five awesome siblings.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church but wasn't as involved when I was a teenager. I came to appreciate my faith more when I went off to college and lived on my own, and especially came to embrace my beliefs during my mission in Mozambique, Africa. I came to realize that God has given me certain gifts and talents so I can help my brothers and sisters to be happier and to have greater desire to follow Christ. I also came to realize that you really do receive more when you give more - the more I give my time, talents and energy to others, all aspects of my life improve, I have more energy and happiness, and more time for things that are most important.

How I live my faith

I currently oversee a couple of different classes in my local congregation of other LDS college students - one of the classes is a teachers improvement class to instruct those who teach at church on Sundays, and the other is a mid-week scripture reading where we meet informally to share what we're learning with each other. I also participate in a program called home teaching where the guys visit everyone in the ward at least on a monthly basis to make sure that everyone's spiritual, monetary, and other needs are met. Outside of that, many of us in our congregation get together for lots of fun activities during the week. It's really great to have a fun group of friends who want to participate in a variety of fun and wholesome activities.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Ryan
The Book of Mormon and Holy Bible go hand in hand (Ezekiel 37:35-37) to teach us and testify of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is absolutely another testament of Jesus Christ, and in it, His prophets and other chosen servants teach of Him, testify of Him, serve Him, and serve others as He served. It shows the same Jesus as the Bible does--a God who loves all of us and is available to all of us for strength if we will but put our trust and faith in Him and follow in His footsteps.
