Hi I'm Julia

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Salt Lake City, I'm a musician and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I have lived a lot of life, a colorful life but I have always believed in a Heavenly Father and in the Savior, Jesus Christ. I have had many opportunities to renew my faith in these precious beings, as well as in the Holy Ghost. I have been a musician for most of my life and as you can imagine, being in the music industry presents its own challenges above and beyond making a career. It is common to see other musicians using alternative methods to become more comfortable on stage. I love life, that's my drug. I love everything about it, the tough, the surprising, the tender, the loving, all of it. Unfortunately, I managed to take myself on a path that I wasn't proud of. Life is about choices, choices to do things that edify and help us grow or tear us down. I wasn't great at making the best choices. However, through the unconditional love of our Father in Heaven, with the forgiveness and support of the Savior through prayer, I have found the life I have always wanted to be living.

Why I am a Mormon

Everything that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints stands for, goes along with everything I feel in my heart. The encouraged compassion without boundaries, the love of all of God's children, keeping my body clean and free of substances that cause damage, the family, opportunities to serve my brothers and sisters, the knowledge of the gospel and it's truthfulness. There are truths through all of the scriptures, but I feel that the Book of Mormon really applies to me, to this day and age. It warns against greed, pride, judgement and shows us the result of those, becoming a fallen society. I cling to my beliefs in hopes that I can teach my family what is important in a world of so many options that again, take us into places where we may make choices that years from now, we regret.

How I live my faith

I pray and watch for opportunities to serve, not just in my church, but with all of God's children. I use my talents to build up what I believe would be pleasing to my Father in Heaven. I don't spend a lot of time worrying about what I want or what I desire. One of the wonderful things about the church is that you can grow personally by doing those things that also benefit the church. As I said, I am a musician, I use my talents to serve as a choir director for my ward, but outside of the church, I use prayer to help guide me as I perform with my husband, and as I teach others the skills of performance. I choose not to walk that path alone. I believe that Heavenly Father knows his children better than I ever could and when I have a breakthrough with a student, I know I didn't do it on my own and that's a wonderful feeling. Jesus and our Father in Heaven love us so much and want the best for us, want us to obtain our greatest "glory" even before we leave this Earth. It's about happiness, no need to search, it's right here in my heart.
