Hi I'm Rob

The Gospel of Jesus Christ colors every aspect of my life. I'm a Mormon and have been since birth.

About Me

I have been very happily married for over 30 years. Much about me and my life is very ordinary, predictable and common. However, I have been blessed with a wonderful wife and five fantastic children. The oldest four are married and it is a wonderful blessing to see the Gospel continue to be a central priority in the lives of each of our children and now grandchildren. One thing that is is very unique in my life is the situation of my youngest son. He was born with a very rare chromosome abnormality diagnosed as Pallister-Killian Syndrome or 'PKS'. He is 18 years old and has opened our lives to an entirely different world. He is not able to walk, or talk, or chew, or do much of anything for himself. Yet he has taught our entire family so very much. He is patient and brave and loving and kind. He has mastered many Christlike qualities that I am still struggling to develop. Because of him, my amazing wife and my other children I have learned a few Christlike characteristics for which I am eternally grateful.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born into a family where both my mother and father were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I still have studied and prayed to develop my own conviction of the Church. Because the Church has been such a central part of my entire life it is difficult to identify one specific event or reason my I am or why I remain a Mormon. One primary reason is expressed in 2 Thessalonians 216-17 where the Apostle Paul says, "Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work." The hope which comes from understanding the life and teachings of our Saviour Jesus Christ gives me a confidence and a peace that can come from no other source. The sure knowledge that Jesus lives and that His Church has been re-established on the earth with a living Prophet and Apostles gives me strength and courage to live and enjoy life. Knowing that there is eternal life after this mortal earthly experience gives meaning and purpose to my life. I know that our family will be bound together through all eternity and through the salvation and resurrection of Jesus the Christ I also know that my youngest son will be restored to a perfect body free from the mortal disabilities he now suffers.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by daily serving my family. By working to provide a home and protection. By working together with my wife to care for our youngest son. By sharing our encouragement with each of our children. And by trying my best to be a disciple of Christ through service in His church and being obedient to the commandments of our Father in Heaven.
