Hi I'm Edna Martin

I'm a Mormon, CNA, mother of two, wife and student. I love to learn new things, read, craft, and cook.

About Me

I have been married for over 3 years to a wonderful Mexican man. I have two wonderful boys who are 9 months apart and are very active! I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, painting, and learning new things, but my facorite thing is cooking. I love to watch the DIY network and cooking channels. I am currently taking a long break from college to raise my children, but have my CNA, first aid and CPR certificate, and I plan to get my RN. I speak Spanish and English and wish I could learn Chinese too. I have so many aspirations and I just hope to find time and strength to accomplish them all.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church, but when I got older, I started to become inactive as I chose to become involved in other activities that where not wholesome and good. I soon began to realize how unhappy I was and I tried to remember a time when I was happy and why. I thought back about my past and how as I read the scriptures, prayed, and went to church, that I was so much happier even in hard times. I thought IO would attend again and find out if I could be happy again. I now know that I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! I love the Savior and I feel like a new person. I am so happy to know of the power of repentance and how I am a child of God. I love that I can live with Him again someday and I hope to learn more about who I am and who I can be. I am grateful for the prophet and for the Book of Mormon. I love to know that it is a help given to me from God. I am happy to be loved by Him so much.

How I live my faith

I attend the Spanish Branch where I live and am learning and commenting each Sunday in church about the things I know and feel. I love the other members and am happy to get to know them and hopefully serve them. I am still new to the branch, but I have been welcomed warmly. I attend with my children and hope that one day my husband will also come to know the truth as I have. I do my best to read, pray and remember who I want to be each day. I also recieved a new calling as branch music leader and choir director. I am quite nervous and yet excited to learn new things, since I know nothing about music excpet that I love it.

Are Mormons Christians?

Edna Martin
Our church is centered on Jesus Christ. Many people fail to realize that our church is based and that it's foundation is Jesus Christ. We love, honor, and respect Him in all we do. He is the reason I believe in the church, our church is not the church of Mormon, but of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We take His name upon us. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Edna Martin
I have come to know my Father in Heaven through prayer, reading the scriptures, listening to the prophets, and doing what I know is right. I have done as the Book of Mormon says and have tested the words of the scriptures to know for myself. I have felt the sweet spirit of happiness and light as I read and pray. I enjoy reading the church magazines and hearing the voice of the prophets in conference. I must say that pray and the sweet feeling of the spirit testify to me more than anything of who He is and His plan for me. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Edna Martin
All that we have was given to us by God and He only asks for us to give a portion back in return. We are proving ourselves faithful and obedient when we do what He asks. In return for obedience he returns blessings and helps us. It is a joy to give a small amount back to Him to help Him with His work on this earth. I feel like it is the least i can do to show Him how much I love and am grateful to Him. Show more Show less
