Hi I'm Tiago Pereira

I love my family. I love my friends. I have a passion for reading. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the kind of guy who loves to spend time with his family and friends. I also love to read. If you hear of any good books, then please tell me about them! I have two sisters who I love, and I am lucky enough to be the middle child and also the tallest. Even though I am not the oldest, it's as if I was. Whenever I have some time for myself I will either read, go for a swim, spend time with friends or spend some quality time on the computer.... What can I say?! I love technology! I love eating! Pizza, Ice-cream, a nice barbecue, and of course some nice Portuguese food! YUM! I was born in Portugal and lived there until 2005 when my family and I moved to England. So I guess I speak Portuguese, English and I pretend to speak Spanish! I am hoping to study Business Management at University one day. I am currently serving as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the England Manchester Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Something that a lot of people seem to say to me is something along the lines of "It's easy for you to believe in God because you were born into it" or "It's all about what religion you are born into" but it's not quite like that! Yes, I was born and raised as a Mormon to a Mormon family, but that doesn't change the fact that at some point I had to find out for myself if what I'd been taught was true or not. With so many people telling me that I had been brainwashed and all those kinds of things, eventually I had to search out for an answer. When I was about 16 years old I made the resolve to read from the Book of Mormon and to pray and ask God if it was true. That Summer there was quite a big Youth Conference of the Church going on and so I decided that I would have to receive my answer by the end of that conference or it couldn't possibly be true. As we were closing the Youth Conference with a Hymn titled "I know that my Redeemer lives" I felt an overwhelming feeling that God was there and I just KNEW that Christ was my Saviour and that the Church was true. The best way I can describe it is kind of like, when you go camping for a week and when you come back home and see your bed, and smell your mum's cooking and you just think "Aaah! I am home!" So that is why I am a Mormon. Not because that's what I was born into but because, like Peter in the Bible, I know that Jesus is the Christ, and His church is once again on the Earth.

How I live my faith

There are many ways in which I try to show my Faith by the way I live, such as my words, thoughts and actions. Currently I am a Full-Time Missionary for the Church which provides me with the opportunity to spend quite a lot of time studying from both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, as well as some other great Study Materials. Studying alone is not enough however, so I try to apply the things that I learn into my daily life. I have also had various responsibilities at church such as a Sunday School teacher and a Ward Missionary. By trying my best to fulfill my responsibilities, I was able to grow closer to my Heavenly Father through Prayer and Scripture Study. But something that I truly enjoy is blogging! I love sharing with others how my beliefs have helped me and my family throughout our lives.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Tiago Pereira
What Missionaries will share with you, very simply, is a message about Heavenly Father's plan of Happiness for us and our families. Central to that Plan and our message, is that Jesus Christ is our Saviour and that he offered himself up as a Sacrifice for us so that through Him, we could return one day to live with our Heavenly Father. They will also share with you about how God has once again reached out in love to us by calling a modern day Prophet to prepare us for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Tiago Pereira
The Book of Mormon is a second witness that Jesus IS the Christ. He testifies of Him as our Saviour and Redeemer from death and Sin. It contains writings from Ancient prophets who lived in the American Continent from about 600B.C. to 400 A.D. These Prophets testify of Christ and His teachings. They help us to understand God's plan of Happiness for us, and what we need to do in this life in order to obtain true and everlasting happiness. The Book of Mormon will answer some of the most profound questions that you have ever asked yourself such as "Who am I?", "Is there something after this life?", "Why does God allow bad things to happen?" and other such questions. The greatest part of the Book of Mormon is that it contains the special promise that all those who read from it, then ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and ask God, in the name of Christ, if the book is true, can and will receive an answer through the power of the Holy Ghost.
