Hi I'm David

I grew up in Calgary Alberta. My wife and I moved to British Columbia where we raised our six children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a teenager I enjoyed hiking, camping, water skiing, snow skiing, badminton, and various team sports. I sang for several years in a "Mens Chorus". I participated in dance festivals, and music festivals and musicals put on by our Church. I have always loved cars, motorcycles, air planes, boats and computers. My wife and I have 6 children and our family activities and church involvement have been the most enjoyable part of our lives. I am a Mormon. After university I started work in Edmonton with a major oil company. Later I took a job in the computer industry and we moved to BC. In a final career change I started working for a large Insurance Brokerage firm where I have been employed for over 30 years.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both Mormons so I was raised as a member of the church. Faith is eventually a very personal experience. My faith has grown immensely over the years and I now have a strong conviction of the truths taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. One of the ancient prophets spoke about “Faith unto Repentance”. As I have tried to live the principles of the gospel I have been blessed with a powerful spiritual confirmation about the truthfulness of each concept. Jesus Christ is the Saviour and Redeemer of the world. I know that when I reach out to Him in prayer He provides guidance to me through personal revelation. The influence of the Holy Ghost has confirmed to me that the Book of Mormon is indeed a second witness of Christ. It contains the inspired writings of ancient prophets brought forth through miraculous means for the benefit of people who live upon the earth now. I have come to know that striving to be obedient to the Lord’s commandments brings peace to my soul and great happiness to me and to my family.

How I live my faith

My wife and I currently have church callings that involve us with young single adults between the ages of 18 & 30. We attend a congregation on Sundays that is especially for them and we enjoy very much getting to know them and being involved with their lives. A group of young people come to our home each Monday night for an evening of activities which include a spiritual discussion and usually some games and refreshments. We feel very fortunate to be able to attend the Vancouver Temple on a regular basis. We love going to the Temple and before the Vancouver Temple was constructed we travelled to Seattle Washington in order to attend. Sundays are very special days for us as we try to focus our activities on worship, service, and quality family time.
