Hi I'm Melane

I'm a Mormon. I was raised in the church and am a convert.

About Me

Hi, I am a Domestic Goddess in the making. My joy right now is being able to raise my children while at home. I married in my late twenties to a husband 18 years my Sr. Talk about instant family! I have 3 biological children and 5 adopted their ages range within 28 years of one another. Before I married I completed some college, gained a barbers license, and served two missions for the church. One full time in Brazil and one part time in Utah. When I have down time I enjoy scrapbooking, sewing, and creating. Most of all I enjoy doing things with my family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are converts to the church. Growing up I loved listening to their conversion stories! My mother joined in her teens. She was skeptical because she didn't want to join just because of a couple of cute guys. My father on the other hand was introduced to the church by a friend of another religion. My father chased the missionaries until they baptized him. Every missionary dreams of teaching someone like him. When My family moved to the mission field is when my conversion process began. I had been raised in it and loved my parents stories, but it wasn't until I moved that I began to question things and find my own answers. I can't think of specific instances. My journey has taken time, but I have to say that through observing my life and the lives of others I would choose no other way to live my life, or to raise my children. This church has the fullness of Christs Gospel taught in the New Testament. I know it is true. Through living it in my day to day life I have come to understand Who I am, where I have come from, and where I can go. I know God knows me individually. I know Christ suffered and died for me, that each time I feel myself sinking I can turn to Him and He will lift me. I know that the Book of Mormon is scripture as is the Bible, and together they testify of Christ. I learn new things each time I read the scriptures. I love having a living prophet and getting to hear his teachings and the teachings of other men called of God each spring and fall. How blessed I feel to live in this dispensation with the fullness of the gospel restored, and all of its blessings to be partaken of.

How I live my faith

In my congregation I work with the youth. I have the opportunity to teach them each Sunday and have week day activities once a week with them. I am a part of a large women organization in the church as well. I have three women under me whom I am supposed to visit with monthly. I will admit in this assignment I fall short more than I would like. Recently I have had friends comment on how well I am living my faith. There are times I do better than others. Mostly I have to take it day by day, sometimes moment by moment. A lesson I am learning at this time in my life is patience and relying on the Lord. There are days I feel overwhelmed having three little ones at home. I am blessed to have older ones and a husband who are willing to help. Even with their help there are many times I feel over my head in everything. These are the times I believe the Lord wants me to turn to him for help, guidance and direction. As of late I have thought I could do it all on my own. I am finding that is not the case. I need the help and direction the Lord provides. I am not an all knowing parent. I am still learning, still growing. If I read the scriptures, listen to the teachings of our living prophet, and pray, the Lord can direct my path. He can lead me.
