Hi I'm Brent

I'm a father, a scientist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the father with three kids at home with another on the way soon. I recently earned my doctorate in chemistry and now work in pharmaceutical research. Sports was a big part of my life in high school, but I couldn't find the time to keep in shape while studying in college and starting a family. Now that my oldest is old enough to join a track team, I'm getting back into it!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a sixth generation Mormon and my family has always gone to church. So many have assumed that I did not choose to be Mormon. I still had to choose to obey the standards and commandments the gospel teaches. I still had to gain my own testimony of the Book of Mormon and modern day prophets. One step at a time I have learned for myself that God lives. Jesus Christ knows each of us personally and is able to help us through any trial. I have felt the presence of the Holy Ghost in my life giving me direction. I have seen how this gospel can dramatically change lives. I believe in the Book of Mormon. The events recorded in the book actually happened and the teachings of those prophets are true. The Book of Mormon, along with the Bible, helps me to understand how Christ manifests his love for me by learning how he has manifested his love for people hundreds of years ago.

How I live my faith

Almost every aspect of my life is centered around my religion. My most important role is being a husband an father. I strive to always put my family first in everything I do. They are why I go to work each day. And when I come home I do my best to play with each of them individually, as well as teach them how to work. We also read scriptures together each day. It is our responsibility as parents to teach our children the gospel. I also believe in absolute honesty at work and all other interactions in the world. Some may see this as a weakness, or a lack of drive, but I have found for myself that great blessings come from living honestly. I spend a lot of time working with the young men of my church. I help with everything from Sunday classes to scout camp outs, dances, sports tournaments etc. It is time demanding, but very rewarding. Our youth need role models and examples of righteous living. I just hope that I have been a positive influence on the young men I serve.
