Hi I'm Shala

I'm a Mormon. I am the youngest in a family of ten children. I grew up in Tennessee. I am married with two children.

About Me

I am married to an amazing man who I am constantly learning from. He is such a hard worker. I have two children who bring me the greatest joys and the greatest challenges in my life. I have learned so much by being a mom. I am learning every day from my 3year old. She is so curious and asks all the questions that really make me think about life. I love to exercise, eat, read, and spend time with my family. I think I have to love to exercise because I love to eat so much! I enjoy cooking, sewing, and watching movies.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Mormon by a father who was raised Mormon and a mother who converted to the gospel when she was 18years old. My parents set a perfect example for me. They always lived the gospel - they followed our Savior's example every day. They were constantly serving others and making good choices, and our family was blessed because of it. My father once told me that their marriage was not strong because they were always "in love" but because they were two people who were living their covenants. They have a strong love of course, but they are so committed to living the gospel, that they are blessed in their marriage and family. I saw this and learned from it. I have had many opportunities to gain a testimony as a child, teenager, and now as an adult. As a child, I learned the basics of the gospel and watched my older siblings living it. I wanted to be like them. As a teenager, I was able to read the Book of Mormon, attend church meetings, and have my faith tested. I felt the spirit witness to me that this is the true church. When I went to church, I felt the spirit. When I said my prayers, I felt the spirit. When I read my scriptures, I felt the spirit. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who watches over me and cares about me. I know that he blesses me every day.

How I live my faith

My faith is a lifestyle. Every morning, our family prays together. Every morning, I try to read scriptures with my husband and hope that we will learn something that will help us throughout our day to remember the Lord and our Savior. Every morning, I try to read the children scriptures to my 3year old as I try to teach her the gospel. Each day, I clean around my home because I want to create an environment where the spirit can dwell. I teach my daughter and hope that she will develop a love for learning. I encourage our family to speak kindly to one another. On Sundays, we attend church. It is a highlight for the week because we spend time together as a family. I get to help the missionaries at our church. I go to class with them and meet any visitors or people who might be learning about the church. We learn basics of the gospel and discuss them. On Sundays, we spend time together as a family. Our children love seeing dad home from work. Every night, we pray together as a family. Every night I try to read scriptures by myself and find ways that I can improve myself. On Monday nights, we have family night. We teach our children something about the gospel. She is learning so much so fast. We try to answer any questions she has and encourage her to pray by herself as well.
