Hi I'm Alan Heninger

I'm and Engineer with a Beautiful Wife. I like reading, video games, and sci-fi, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Structural Engineer. I graduated from a University about two years ago. I have a beautiful wife, and I love hanging out with her. We have been married for about 4 years. We don't have any kids yet, but hopefully soon we will. I like to read, especially young adult fantasy and science fiction. Some of my favorites are: Fablehaven, the Ranger's Apprentice, Percy Jackson, 13th Reality, Farworld, Enders Game, and many more. I also like video games and movies. I like to spend time outside camping and hiking, even though I don't get to do it as much as I would like. I like to bake sweet things (like cakes and cookies), and I also like to do home canning. I also like to try new types of foods from all over the world. Mostly, I like spending time together with my wife.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have seen so many blessings in my life as I try and keep the commandments and follow the teachings of a living prophet. I have seen how living Jesus Christ's Gospel has blessed so many people, from my parents and siblings, my In-Laws, people in our local congregation, and especially in my own life. I know that I am happier now than I could be without the Gospel. One thing that is very important to me is knowing that becuase my wife and I were married in an LDS Temple, with proper authority, we will be together forever, even after this life. Our kids, whenever they come, will be able to live with us after this life as well.

How I live my faith

One of the best things about the LDS church is that no one in our congregation is paid for what they do at church. We all help in the church becuase we know that it is true and want to serve each other. I have a lot of fun at church. My responsability is over the young men (ages 12-18). We do activities regularly, and have a lot of fun. It is amazing to see these young men as they desire to do great things. They don't want to be like all of the other people around them. They are much more mature and think things through much better. They are far from perfect, and still want to be cool and fit in, but they make good choices and stay away from inappropriate things like drugs, alcohol, pre-marital sex, etc. They worry about each other and try to help those that are struggling. They go each month and visit widows and shut-ins. I know they are much better men than I was at their age.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Alan Heninger
Husbands and wives are equal in marriage - one is not better than the other. While each have different responsabilites in the home Fathers are to provide, preside over, and protect their families, while Mothers are to nurture, teach, and love, without both working together with unified goals, a family will not be very successful. Husbands and wifes need to work together and support each other if they want to have a fulfilling relationship and a happy family. It helps to put each other's needs first, but one can only do that if they have confidence that their spouse will do the same. Show more Show less
