Hi I'm Eric

A father a husband an old athlete. And I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Southern California as an only child to good parents. My life was devoted to playing sports almost all the time which continued into high school. I continued participating in sports through college including some football, hockey and lacrosse. After college, I began my career in human resources, met my wife and moved back to Southern California. I continued playing sports however that's not when the real fun begin. It really started 11 years ago with the birth of our first child. We now have three active, amazing little people running around our house and its a blast!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a good family, that taught Christian values, but I wasn't raised as an active Mormon. As a senior in high school I had many different people telling me their beliefs were true, that others weren't, and that I should align myself with this, that or the other. I then met someone that was a member of the Church who really inspired me to look at my beliefs, and what I believed in relation to God and His truths. So I decided that I would do what made the most sense to me; ask what I believed was the source of truth, that is God. So, I knelt in prayer and asked if this was true, and I got the most amazing feeling, that was more than just a “feeling”, but a communication to my mind and heart, that this God's church. I immediately recognized that God was looking after me and had restored His gospel on earth. I made up mind, virtually in that moment, that I would go on a mission, that I wanted to share this true knowledge that had been given to me, with everyone I could. Not as much share the knowledge, but share the opportunity for others to find out, the exact same way I did, that this is God's church by asking a loving, and truly attentive, Heavenly Father, if it was true. Because, I know He’ll answer, because he answered me.

How I live my faith

I believe living Christ's faith is in doing those seemingly little things that are important each day. Its lifting up others by trying to add value to each person's life that you come into contact with each day. It may be as simple as a smile and a friendly "how are you doing?". It may be trying help the person next to you carry something, opening a door, or in busy Southern California, just letting that car go in front of you on the freeway. But its also in reading scriptures, praying with my family and on my own, spending time with my wife and children and listening and interacting with them. Its serving and providing my children with a chance to be exposed to similar service activities. Its daily, almost mundane things, that add up to a faith-full life. This is how I, ever so imperfectly, try to live my faith each day

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Absolutely, why shouldn't there be? When has there been a greater need? And why does it seem like there shouldn't be? Has God changed that much in just 2000 years? Why wouldn't he be the same, and give his children the same things, supports and resources, that he gave to his children just a few centuries ago? Is 2000 years, or even 5000 years, that long to God? But what's more, I've asked God if there are and who they are? I wasn't going to rely on the words of other, imperfect, witnesses. I would ask God, because I knew He could answer me perfectly.
