Hi I'm Ruby

I grew up in Lakeview, Utah. A farmer's daughter - I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 4, a step-mother of 4, and a surrogate mother to many nephews & nieces. I love to read. I could read all day, every day and never get bored. I love music and I love to sing. I love to be around children; they help me to remember who I am and who I'm supposed to be. I also love learning about other cultures and people. My husband is from the island of Tonga and I have been richly blessed by the polynesian people. My three oldest children are from the Hopi Tribe. I love these humble and loving people. I continue to learn from the wonderful people who come into my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Gospel but was not truly converted until later in my life. My mom was very strong in the church and tried very hard to teach us. My dad was inactive but still pushed us to go to church. My family was a little different compared to the other families in our Ward. My dad's first wife passed away and he had four young children to raise. My mom was divorced and had four young children to raise. The met, fell in love, and got married. This was the late 1960's and blended families were pretty rare and my family was the only blended family that I knew of. My mother was also the only hispanic person in our little area that was also a member of the church. Growing up being different is not easy and some of the other kids in our Ward were not very nice to us. I am sad to say that I was not strong enough to overcome that challenge and let this stumbling block get in the way of the Gospel. It took many years, and many mistakes for me to see that I was on the wrong path. I tried a few times to come back my testimony was still not strong enough for me to overcome the stumbling blocks that the adversary places before me. I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who never gave up on me. I know that through Him I met my wonderful husband who help bring me back into the Gospel. I know that Heavenly Father loves us. We are His children. He will provide a way for each of us to come to know Him, to know our Savior, Jesus Christ, we just have to let Him in.

How I live my faith

I am blessed to be part of a Polynesian Stake and a member of a Tongan Ward and have been given many opportunities to serve. I currently serve as a counselor in the Stake Primary, which is an auxiliary for the children in our Church. I also serve as a Webelos leader in the Cub Scouts. It is a blessing for me to teach little children about our Savior, Jesus Christ. I have learned that as I teach them, they are teaching me. The scriptures say that we must become as little children or we cannot inherit the kingdom of God. I love the little children, they are alive in Christ and have so much to teach us, if we let them. I love to read the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. The more I read, the closer I am to Jesus Christ. I strive each day to be more like Him. Some days I do better than others but I continue to try. I know that I am not perfect but I do know that if I live the Gospel and keep the commandments, someday...I will be perfected in Him.
