Hi I'm Ammon

I grew up in southern Utah. I taught elementary school for several years and now I'm i n graduate school and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been involved in education most of my life. I have taught elementary school and now I'm studying to become a professor of education. I have a wonderful family with my wife and two kids. We love to be together and find that we can fill up our days working, learning and playing as a family. My wife stays at home with the kids and does an incredible job as a mother. She is incredibly unselfish.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe in Jesus Christ, I know that he is my Savior. I feel my relationship grow closer to him and my Father in Heaven as I follow the principles found in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I grew up as a member of the Mormon church. It is easy for me to believe in what I have been taught all my life because I have seen the benefits in my life and the lives of those around me. I live and work in an academic environment where belief in God can be viewed as less advanced or an oddity. However, my faith has grown as I have worked with new ideas and wonderful people who don't understand what I believe. I love reading the scriptures. I do a lot of reading in my education and I have to do a great deal of critiquing of theories and ideas. It is supremely comforting to be able to read the words of the prophets in the scriptures and to know that I can have total confidence that what is said is true and will lead me to happiness. Every problem that the world struggles with could be solved if we lived according to the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sharing what has brought me happiness and guidance in my life. I have worked with the 12-18 year old young men in our area. It was great to spend time with young people just getting started in making decisions and growing spiritually, physically and mentally. These guys have to work incredibly hard to prepare for school, but they have so much energy that I know great things will happen for them in their lives. They are applying the principles of the gospel and it shows in the type of young men they are. I also get to teach the adult Sunday school each week. It is wonderful to spend time in the scriptures. I also volunteer at our local Institute of Religion, it is very fun to teach a class to undergraduate students. We are learning about all the Presidents of the Church, I have learned a lot in my efforts to teach others!
