Hi I'm Joe Clancy

I am a former U.S. Army Helicopter Pilot now serving veterans at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with six children. I enjoy the satisfaction of finishing a home improvement project. I enjoy softball and as I have gotten older my focus has gone from competitive to recreational participation. I recently moved to Minnesota with my family to take a job at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. I served many years in the military and felt a great sense of purpose serving my country. I get a similiar sense of satisfaction serving the veterans at the medical center.

Why I am a Mormon

The story of the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ penetrated my soul. Reading the Book of Mormon brought a welcomed spirit into my life. My membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has helped me greater appreciate the gospel principles I learned growing up in the Catholic faith. While adding to that knowledge. Additionally, I am greatful for the courage of the reformers like Martin Luther and the heritage they forged giving life to the American ideal of freedom of religion. I was baptized in basic training more than 30 years ago. With 30 years and longer to look back I can see Heavenly Father's hand in my life. I only wish I had been wiser in recognizing it along the way.

How I live my faith

Over many years I have had the opportunity to serve in a multitude of ways. My favorite has been working with the youth. Besides the fun activities, valiant youth are a great source of inspiration. I can't imagine not having the Gospel to guide me, the Church to structure my life better, and other members to support and strengthen me. When I miss church, even for a week, I can tell distinctly that my days are harder and my resillency is weakened.
