Hi I'm Jacob Gibb

I'm a missionary in New Delhi, India and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 21 years old. I enjoy books, movies and music. I love Shakespeare, Dostoyevsky, and fantasy novels. Some of my favorite movies include Star Wars, Iron Man, and the Avengers. I love to listen to Train, Maroon 5, 30 Seconds to Mars, and dancing to Michael Jackson. I love the rhythm and the pulse that a full life brings. Dancing, singing and performing are ways that I can share that rhythm and joy. I also enjoy building with Legos, making movies, and hanging out with my friends. I recently finished my freshman year of college and loved it. However, I am now taking a break from my education to serve a two year mission in New Delhi, India preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, but I have gained a testimony of my own. I know that this is Jesus Christ's one true church on the earth today. He is unchanging, and still speaks to His people through the mouths of holy prophets. Growing up, all my friends were also church members. I struggled, as everyone does, with trying to figure out who I was and be someone who was "different" while also being someone that was accepted and loved by those around me. I tried many different ways, but the only was that I found true acceptance and love was when I stopped worrying about those around me and turned to my Heavenly Father. I realized that it didn't matter who I was as long as I was doing what was right. Who I was would follow after, and it has. I know that I am a son of God, that my Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ know me more deeply and personally than anyone else. I know He has given me unique gifts and talents that are meant to be shared with others. I know that we can find true happiness in obedience to the commandments and standards of God. I know that families are forever. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. That book, more than any other thing on this earth, has taught me about the love that my Father in Heaven has for me. I know that if someone reads it with a sincere desire to know the will and the mind of God, he will find more answers there than he ever dreamed possible. And I've learned all this from personal experience. I invite you to do the same. :)

How I live my faith

I believe that God has given us all unique talents for the benefit of others. I love to share those talents that God has blessed me with, and love being strengthened by the talents of others. I also strive to be an "example of the believers" (1 Tim 4:12) in all I do. I am serving a mission far from my home preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Before my mission, I participated actively in my ward with the other youth. I study and pray about the Gospel, and I know it is true.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Jacob Gibb
I believe that stopping the spread of pornography starts in the home. My parents have done two things to protect my family from the influence of pornography. First, they have held us to high standards in the movies, video games, and other media we view. Second, because they cannot protect us from everything, we have been taught to say no when we are confronted with pornography. By keeping these standards, I have been able to not only keep clear of pornography's influence but I have also been able to encourage others to keep clear of its influence. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Jacob Gibb
Faith is the foundation of every belief. We cannot know everything. However, through faith we gain a hope in our belief. We know something is true without conclusive evidence. This knowledge of truth gives us power to act. For example, I have faith that God loves me and cares about me. I know this because I have felt his love through my family, through His Church, and as I have studied and prayed. Because I know that God loves me, I want to share that love with others and help them understand the way God feels about them. Faith requires effort and dedication. It is not something that we gain overnight. It develops as we strive to exercise it and share it. Show more Show less
