Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a Spanish teacher, a wife, a mother of five, a happy person and l'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah but moved around a lot with my family as I was growing up. I never lived in one place for more than 2 years. I loved talking to my friends about religion. I always seemed to know more about my beliefs than any of my friends. I moved to Utah to go to high school and then went to Brigham Young University. There I met my amazing husband, a convert from Nova Scotia, Canada. We have chosen to raise our family in Utah. We have 3 boys and 2 girls and have had many challenges raising our children. Accepting that "agency" is something all of God's children enjoy, even your own, is one of the most difficult principles to truly accept and live. I feel so much closer to my Father in Heaven as I have to watch my grown children make their own choices and figure things out, right or wrong. It has given me a greater appreciation for what He goes through as he watches me struggle and fall, only to get back up again and try over and over again to get it right. I am so grateful for a Father in Heaven who understands how much we have to learn and is so patient and loving in the process. I don't know what I would do without an understanding of God's plan for us. My father is dying of cancer and probably only has a short time left here on this earth. I would struggle so much more with this thought if not for the knowledge of how families can be together forever and how we can see our loved ones again, even after they have died.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born into the church, I truly believe that I would have believed the missionaries had they come to my door. The principle of the gospel bring true joy and happiness in this life as well as the next.

How I live my faith

I have always been a happy person. I love to smile and try to bring joy to those around me. I serve in a calling in the church with the young girls ages 12 to 18. I love being around them and their amazing personalities. They truly bring me so much joy. I love to spend time with my husband, my five amazingly different children and my little Shih Tzu. Living the principles of the gospel every day makes me happy. When I choose to forgo an important principle in my life, I only suffer with remorse and sadness.
