Hi I'm Laura

I'm a convert, I love to laugh, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to laugh. And eat. Those are probably my favourite things to do on a daily basis. I like to travel, bake and I really enjoy a good Disney movie. I was born and raised in Airdrie, Alberta with my older sister. She has been an amazing example to me throughout my life of teaching me not to care what others think. We were brought up going to the United church and I think I always had a knowledge of who Jesus Christ was, but I didn't understand what He could do for me in my life until I found the gospel. When I was sixteen I noticed I had a lot of friends who were Mormon. I liked the way that I felt around them and I liked the morals and values they had and stood for. I feel like they had the purpose of life figured out, and I wanted to know what that was. Curiosity took the best of me and I started meeting with the missionaries. Eight months later I decided to get baptized and I haven't looked back since. I returned from the Canada Halifax Mission in March of 2014, and it was the best time of my life. The gospel has brought such a light and happiness in my life and the opportunity to share that with others brings me such joy. My family are not members of the church but they support me because they can see the happiness that I have found.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member because it truly is the only thing that makes sense to me. I feel something here that I have never felt anywhere else. It just feels right, like home. I am safe here. I have never been happier! I know that everything happens for a reason. The gospel of Jesus Christ has given me my true purpose in life. There is always someone there for me and I am never alone. I am very humbled and grateful to be a member because I know Heavenly Father wants me to return to live with Him. I am a member because it makes me so incredibly happy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing everything I can to strengthen my relationship with my Father in Heaven. I believe faith is not only a feeling I have, but an action that I must take- striving each day to do my best at following the words of Prophets and obeying the commandments of God. This includes attending church, going to the temple regularly, sustaining and putting faith in my church leaders, fulfilling the callings that I have been given and trying to serve others as much as I can. I feel very blessed by the knowledge that I have of Jesus Christ. I know that he is my Saviour and redeemer, and he strengthens me when I ask him. I know that only through him I can be the person I want to be.
