Hi I'm Tyler

I love to laugh. I fear mediocrity. I'm trying to be like Jesus each and every day.

About Me

I'm a music junkie, and an aspiring musician (I just bought a ukulele!) studying English and French education. I'm planning on going to grad school after I graduate from college. I love language and the power of words. I'm writing a children's book about zombies. I love to make people laugh. I believe sunshine, the scriptures, laughter, and good music can make any situation better. I find the power to be happy in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I used to be really shy and depressed in my early teen years. I had associated myself with a bad group of kids in my early teens, and I needed to get out. But that meant losing all of my friends. I did it anyway. One day a stranger started talking to me. He helped me see the joy that can come from living the gospel and we became best friends. He taught me that true, lasting happiness comes from living a clean, righteous life. I've learned to love life because of the gospel.

How I live my faith

I teach fellow students in my congregation every other Sunday. I also visit two households of students and help strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ. I try to be happy enough to get people to ask me why I'm so happy. I love talking to strangers.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Although we have different roles, men and women are equal in the Church, but neither one of them can be fully complete without the other. They must work together to do the work of the Lord, especially when it comes to raising families. Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

First of all, we resist pornography in our own lives. Pornography is anything which degrades or downplays the sacred intimacy of sex that should only be had in marriage. Our first line of defense needs to be in our own homes. We should be able to talk with our children about the beauty of righteous sex between husband and wife, and then teach about the consequences of misusing these awesome powers. But our children should feel that they can come to us if they have struggles. When children do come to you tell you about sins or struggles with pornography, do not judge, and be slow to condemn. Talk about these issues openly and easily, and teach them why these sins are wrong. Teach them from a young age and filter computers. Make sure your children know that you do this not to restrict them, but to protect them. Then you're children will realize that sex isn't evil, it's a part of God's plan. The stronger their testimony is in God's plan, especially marriage and righteous intimacy between husband and wife, the easier it will be to resist temptation when it comes, because they will realize that pornography is a counterfeit of the pure, unselfish joy of intimacy in marriage.
