Hi I'm Laura

I love books and movies. I am prone to embarrassing moments...and I'm a mormon!

About Me

I'm an Author a Wife and Mother. I have three young sons who fill my light with equal amounts of chaos and joy. When I'm not writing, on the school-run or frantically cleaning my ever-messy home, I'm playing the piano and dancing to music in the kitchen. I love to serve and actively look out for opportunities to help people. During my pregnancies, I suffered with a debilitating pregnancy condition called Hyperemesis Gravidarum. I have published a book about my HG experience to raise awareness and volunteer within the HG community to help other sufferers. My family and friends are everything to me, and I enjoy meeting and speaking with new people every day. I have a lot of love and respect for my brothers and sisters.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. I went to church with my family each week not questioning it's truthfulness or why we went. It just felt right. When I turned 11 years old, I realised I could no longer rely on my parent's testimonies and that I needed to know for myself if the Church was true - because the way I looked at it; if it wasn't true, going to church would be a waste of time! After much prayer and study, I soon developed a deep and loving faith in my Saviour Jesus Christ and I knew that the Church of Jesus Christ is where I needed to stay. Having found a faith in Christ, I looked at His ministry on the Earth, he set up a church with 12 apostles and a prophet. He brought the priesthood to the Earth. It is this set up, which we find within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, that I have found in no other religion. As a follower of Christ, I choose to be part of the Church that I know to be set up by my loving Saviour. I was baptised at 8, made sacred covenants in the temple at 19 and made sacred covenants with my husband on our wedding day. He holds the holy Priesthood which continually blesses me and my family on a daily basis. It is a blessing to know that if I ever feel anxious or unwell - or my babies are sick - I can receive a special priesthood blessing from God.

How I live my faith

I serve the Church by teaching within the Primary organisation. I have served in Primary for a number of years. The children are anxious to learn about the Gospel and their questions are endless! The funny thing is, I think they teach me more about humility and the love of our Saviour, Jesus Christ than I teach them!

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Laura
When we get married, there's no line "Til Death do us part" - that is because we believe that Jesus Christ gave power to His disciples to seal families together forever. That power is practiced in our holy temples today. It is a real comfort to know that even after we have died, we can still be with our loved ones. Show more Show less
