Hi I'm Joel Thomas

About Me

* I am a Dad! I love my wife! (notice...WIFE...not plural) I love my two kids. I am so grateful for adoption and for birth mothers! Being a Dad is the best thing in the world! * I love Disneyland! * I am a registered nurse and i work in administration at a hospital as the clinical risk manager and I truly love my career helping people. * Music is a HUGE part of my life! I love to sing and perform whenever I can. I am also an actor and I have worked both professionally and in community theater! I have my Bachelor degree in Nursing and am pursuing my Masters degree in nursing (MSN) in leadership and management. * I like to camp and hike, I like to mountain bike and road bike. I like to potter about my garden. Did I mention I love music? :) * I am a very happy person! I am a great friend!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family... It's how I was raised... But, there came a time in my life that I decided to find out for myself what was right for me... I had always learned that you can ask God anything and he will answer you... I asked and nothing happened... hmmm... So I just kept doing what I was doing... and over time I just knew that it was right... I look back and realized that God did answer me... The experiences I had, the moments in my life that became defining moments were all answers... and so I do not doubt it... I have studied other religions, beliefs, etc. and I have found what's right for me. It is being a Mormon... I am a Mormon because it makes sense that God is our Father and that we are his children, it makes sense that there are other records of people besides what is in the Bible, it makes sense that Families can be together forever, it makes sense that we need to be accountable for our actions, it makes sense that we need to follow the example of the Savior, Jesus Christ and be baptized like He was, and follow His commandments. It makes sense that God still has prophets on the earth today, it makes sense that God would restore His church in the latter-days... It just makes sense and I know that it is true... and that's why I'm a Mormon...

How I live my faith

I love life and try to live it to the fullest. I love being a dad and a husband! My wife and I have adopted both of our children and are beyond grateful for adoption and for our birth mothers. I am so grateful for eternal families and for temples. I am so grateful for the gospel because of the direction and peace it gives me. However, I want you to know, that my life is not always just peaches and cream... I have had struggles and hard times and low times and been grounded and miserable... I think everyone does have times like these... But... it's when things are bad that you must not quit... I go to church on Sundays, I serve in the church as the primary chorister and the choir director. I love it! It is such an awesome way to serve! My wife and I try to have a "Family Home Evening" every Monday night and sing hymns with our children and have lessons about Jesus and the Gospel and the plan our Heavenly Father has for us. I try to read my scriptures on a daily basis... but I don't always, because I am not perfect... I do pretty good at having family prayers and visit members in our community/neighborhood and find ways to serve them... As far as serving goes... I also try to serve in the community and work at local marathons as a volunteer, or other activities that require volunteers... I do a lot of community service through donating time to community theater's... I try to be an all around nice guy, I try to do what's right and help other's when I can, I try to be a good husband and father to my wife and kids. At the end of the day - it's about how we treat each other, isn't it. It's all about love. It's what our Savior preached and did everyday - it was His life - and we would do well and all be better off if we could all emulate that. Love.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Joel Thomas
How do you come to know anyone? You talk to them and you listen to them. We can pray and talk to our Heavenly Father - of all the names that He could be called - we call Him "Father" - He will talk to you - through feelings, through the still small voice - through others - through answers to prayers - He lives and loves you - you can talk to Him about anything you wish to - He knows you, personally and He wants you to talk to Him. Learn about Him in the scriptures - the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, the Pear of Great Price. Keep his commandments and you will come to know Him. Show more Show less
