Hi I'm Sarah!

I love music, traveling, and jigsaw puzzles! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I'm Sarah and I loved to travel. I've lived in Germany and have studied French, German, Italian, Spanish, and English. Eventually, I'd like to visit all 50 United States, all seven continents (well... maybe not Antarctica!) and see the Northern Lights. I love jigsaw puzzles and have this quirky desire to put one together that is 8,000 pieces. I will soon have a degree in social work, and I hope to work in child or family services until I am ready to start a family of my own.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always felt very blessed. I have a wonderful family and many friends who support me. I have always held good jobs, I am in good health, and I am getting an education that will help me provide for my future family and give me a chance to serve others. Like everyone else, I've had my share of trials and difficulties, but throughout every hard situation, the Lord has always been there to sustain me and teach me and direct me in what He would have me learn and become. I could never turn my back on the One who has never turned His back on me.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving in the primary in my ward. I play the piano so that the children can sing songs about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I also spend an extra two evenings a month with the 8-9 year old girls and we do spiritual and fun activities and teach them even more about living a gospel-centered life. Additionally, every month, a neighbor and I visit four other ladies. We share a gospel message and make sure that everything is going okay. It's a way to look out for each other as sisters. It is wonderful to share with others what it is that brings me the most hope and happiness in my life.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

The temple is the House of the Lord. Baptized Church members can go to the temple if they are worthy to hold a temple recommend, which means that they live according to Gospel standards. Nothing secret goes on in temples. Instead, the reason members don't usually talk about what goes on inside the temple in depth is because the ordinances performed are very sacred. They include baptisms for those who have died without the knowledge of the Gospel, and marriage & sealing ceremonies which seal families together for time and all eternity. What I love most about going to the temple is the peace that is felt inside, and even on the grounds outside. Show more Show less

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Visitors are welcome in church! A typical day at church consists of three meetings. Sacrament meeting is where we gather as families to sing, pray, and take the sacrament (communion). Additionally, there are usually a few speakers from the congragation who have been asked to share a message about a gospel topic. The next meeting is Sunday School. Children attend nursery or primary, and other classes are offered for each age group. This is where we focus on learning from the scriptures. In the third meeting, we generally split into Young Womens or Relief Society for the women, and Preisthood meetings for the men. Here we learn about the teachings of the prophets, our individual worth, and how we can better live the gospel in our everyday lives. Show more Show less
