Hi I'm Cindy H.

I grew up in Texas, married a wonderful man & raised 5 children. I am preparing to leave for a mission to Thailand for 18 months.

About Me

I'm so happy you are reading my profile! I'm a wife to an amazing husband and mother to 5 children. All of my children have "flown the nest" and now we are empty nesters. I enjoy being a grandmother to 9 beautiful grandchildren ages 12 down to 1 year. I love reading and especially watching the beautiful sunsets in the evening. I have taught first grade and my passion is helping children learn to read and enjoy reading!! I love life, my country, friends and my Savior Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Methodist Church by loving parents and teachers. My knowledge of the Bible came from attending Sunday school each Sunday and youth trips as I became older. I attended a Baptist University for several years and continued to study the New and Old Testaments. Although I was knowledgable in the scriptures and attended church, I didn't really have a personal relationship with God. I knew the scriptures, but I didn't know HIM. One day, 2 missionaries from the Mormon Church knocked on my door and gave me a Book of Mormon. They explained that the book was another testament of Jesus Christ. I was excited to read it. As I read, I prayed to know if the book was true. My prayers were answered as I felt a warm feeling of comfort and closeness with God that I had never felt before. Attending the LDS church on Sunday felt right and good. Months later, I was baptized and have been a member of the LDS church for over 35 years. I believe in the power of faith, baptism, repentance and living close to the Holy Ghost. When I live righteous gospel principles, I am happy!! I'm not perfect. I have many qualities that I know I need to work on, but with my Savior by my side, I know I can feel His love as I try to be better each day. I have a closer relationship with my Savior than ever before because I know Him better now. I want to live with Him again and living the gospel helps me to accomplish that.

How I live my faith

My faith has taught me the importance of service to my family, my community, and the world. Recently, my husband and I traveled to Thailand and Myanmar to help with building clean water wells for villages and schools. We spent 18 months living and getting to know the most amazing people. It was such a joy seeing children and adults watch as clean water flowed through pipes for the very first time in their lives. In my community back home in the U.S. I enjoyed working in the Boy Scout organization with the Cub Scouts. One year I took a group of 16-18 year old girls on a 64 mile hike to Philmont Scout Ranch. I watched as these 24 girls learned lessons of endurance and fortitude! I have also volunteered with an organization that helps young birth mothers prepare for the delivery of their babies. I helped them learn about infant care and took them to doctor appointments. This was a great joy for me. I have taught children's Sunday school for many years.
