Hi I'm Donna

I'm a Mormon. I love my family, my job, my friends, and my Faith.

About Me

I grew up mostly in Iowa, US. I had a great life and was the oldest of seven children. My parents had joined the LDS church when I was a baby and so they were learning about the gospel along with us, although they learned a whole lot faster. When I was almost 23 I moved to Utah and met my husband. We were married and began a happy life together. We have three great boys. As my children were young I ran a small daycare in my home so I could be with my kids. But I also went back to school to get my accounting degree. I finished just as my youngest finished 1st grade. Perfect timing! I was able to get a full-time job in my field and really enjoyed it. Two months later our lives changed drastically. As we were heading out on vacation we were involved in a single car accident. Our oldest son, 13 at the time, had taken his seatbelt off. He was thrown from the car and died instantly. That was a hard time in our lives and still is some days. But through our faith, family, and friends we made it through the first year and continue to march on. Because of our beliefs we know that we are an eternal family and he will always be my son, even in death. As hard as some days are we refuse to let grief run our lives and we live in celebration of him. He was a wonderful teenage boy, full of mischievousness, love and kindness. Life is often not easy, but with an eternal perspective that the gospel brings we are able to understand and withstand the trials that make us stronger and closer to God.

Why I am a Mormon

I have just always known that the LDS church is the Lord's true church. I have never had to grapple with that belief. I do not follow the beliefs and standards the church sets forth because "that's what everyone does." I believe in the gospel with my whole heart and soul and know that obedience to the Lord's commandments will allow me to live in His presence again.

How I live my faith

I have had callings in almost all the different areas of the church. I've worked as a Primary teacher and Primary President. I really like working with the kids. They take you for who you are, no judgments. I've also been able to work with the young women and love their enthusiasm for life. At one time I was in Relief Society, the women of the church, and really enjoyed working alongside my sisters. Currently I work with the Webelos scouts and really like that. The boys are so fun and so willing to learn and help teach when possible. I have loved all my callings in the church.
