Hi I'm Wes!

I've worked in the arts and other nonprofits throughout my career. I blog about the comic strip Mary Worth. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As I was growing up in California, I wanted to be an actor, and for a while I did improvisation in San Francisco. I have a masters degree in arts administration from the College-Conservatory of Music, and I've worked in the non-profit sector my entire career. A few years ago, I started a blog about the comic strip Mary Worth. My wife an I met in Cincinnati while we were both in graduate school. She's an accomplished musician (she plays the double-bass). We now live in Maryland, and have three children.

Why I am a Mormon

As a teenager, I found that being a Mormon forced me to evaluate my own values and convictions. I had to determine if I was really willing to be different. I found that being different wasn't so bad, and many of my classmates respected me for my differences. Not to mention the blessings that come from making good choices as a teen. In the Gospel, I feel a closeness to my Savior Jesus Christ. That relationship has carried me through struggles, and has helped me see my own imperfections and weaknesses. I feel the Lord's encouragement as I try to improve my life and follow God.

How I live my faith

There is so much to learn and do in this life. I believe that the Lord is eager to open the doors of experience to us, if we simply try to follow Him. That takes a leap of faith, but it is totally exhilarating.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

The Church does not endorse political parties or political candidates. In the United States, members of the Church are often viewed as being politically conservative, but this isn't necessarily the case. My political priorities have often differed from other members of my church, but I have always felt loved and welcomed in my faith. Show more Show less
