Hi I'm Amanda

I'm 20 and mission bound.

About Me

I'm Amanda. I am currently a sophomore at Brigham Young University (BYU) intending to major in communications. I just accepted a call to serve as a missionary in the California Riverside Mission. I report in a couple of months. I am beyond excited and cannot wait to teach the gospel to God's children. I am a sister to three girls and a daughter to very loving parents. I am an avid cook and Food Network viewer. I love to play the piano as well. Other than that, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings me happiness, peace, and hope.

Why I am a Mormon

The fact that I was raised in this gospel is not the reason I'm a practicing Mormon. It's the experiences I have had in prayer or in church meetings that have testified to me of the truthfulness of this gospel and the reality of my Savior and Heavenly Father. Up until I was about 14, I never really knew for myself that the gospel was true. Sure, I said that it was, but it took a grateful prayer to my Heavenly Father than confirmed that indeed this church was true and that I am a daughter of God. It was through the spirit I felt during that short prayer that testified to me that Heavenly Father knew my name was Amanda and that Christ suffered for my specific sins and has felt my specific sorrows and my specific joys. To me, that is what the gospel is about and the reason why I am a Mormon. I cannot deny the spirit I felt in that prayer. "Mormon" culture aside, the essense of the gospel of Jesus Christ is one that provides an individual with personal revelation, hope, comfort, peace, eternal families, and unconditional love. That's why I'm Mormon- it makes me happy knowing that there is a plan designed just for me that if I choose to follow- I can reach my goal of living with my eternal family with a loving Heavenly Father and elder brother, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith my striving to follow the example of Jesus Christ. Sometimes it is as simple as turning off a song on the radio, or a show on television, and sometimes it requires more effort. I live my faith by praying, reading my scriptures, and serving others. I also strive to keep the covenants I have made in the temple and at baptism.
