Hi I'm Katy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Nurse Practitioner and work in a tiny farm town in Idaho. My husband is a potato farmer. I have one son, a daughter-in-law and two grandsons (who are the cutest on the earth :)) I went to school in Utah back when the buffaloes crossed the plains and graduated as a Medical Technologist. I worked in the lab for many years and then became an Infection Control Practitioner. I loved that and enjoyed teaching and finding "bugs". My motto was, "If it is wet and it is not yours, don't touch it." I worked hard and got my BSN in 1994 from a university in New York. I have always dreamed of being a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and finally graduated with a MSN in 2004 from a Nurse Practitioner program here in Idaho. I have a solo practice in Firth, Idaho and see all kinds of patients. I can have sore throats to stitches to broken bones from getting kicked by a pig! It is always exciting. I play the guitar and write songs. I love to golf but don't have any time to do it right now. I love being a Mormon and my religion guides my life every day. I am so grateful for my Savior as I am always needing forgiveness quite a bit :). I also rely on the Lord every day in my job. I could not do this job without Him. It is too hard. I have to be able to make swift decisions and have lives in my hands each day. He guides me to the right answers. He brings peace to me. I love my family, they mean everything to me. That is my joy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was lucky enough to be raised in a family that went to church. I was baptized when I was 8 years old but really feel that my conversion to the Mormon faith came when I was 14. I had to make hard decisions whether I would go with my friends or stay with my church. There was a church leader who took an interest in me and helped my through tough times in my life. She always believed in me. I found peace and happiness in living the gospel. I found many many wonderful friends who are lifetime friends.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by relying on the Lord to help me in the clinic. I also love Girl's Camp which is a week every year that we take the girls who are 12-18 up in the mountains to learn self-reliance and the beauty of God's world. I have gone every year for 40 years! Crazy huh? I love it! I play the guitar and sing crazy songs like Fried Ham and Wild Thing. We always end with a spiritual song or two to help them go to sleep. (That never works :)) I love working with the youth. They keep me young. I have worked a lot with the younger children also and I love their sweetness and pure joy. They love the guitar also and always sing with gusto!
