Hi I'm Jamieson Livengood

I grew up in Portland Oregon. I am a convert of the Church, I know American Sign Language, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Jamieson, I'm in my early 20's. I am a convert of the Church as of May 22nd 2010. My conversion is a lengthy story but I am more than willing to share with those who ask. A long story short, I was working at a movie theater trying to find a church for my family to go to. No one really had a motivation to go to church every Sunday. At my work my friend introduced me to the gospel. He invited me to fun activities and things the church was hosting. I started meeting with the missionaries, but after about 4 months was not ready to accept the gospel. I wasn't ready to "give up" my life style, or so I thought. About a year after that I met a pretty girl who happened to be a member. Her and I started talking, long story short I decided to meet with the missionaries again, and this time I was ready. (For those who may be wondering, no that pretty girl is not in my life at this time.) I have a very strong testimony and conviction of the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith. I came to have that testimony as I read the Book of Mormon and prayed. My testimony of the Savior is stronger and I know He is my Redeemer! A year and a half after my baptism I served a mission in the Washington DC North Mission, called to preach the gospel in American Sign Language (ASL). I love ASL. I also love to snowboard. I started Snowboarding at age 12 but became more serious with it when I was 16. I love hiking and hanging out with friends. I am an open person. If you want to know anything, just ask.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Really, the correct name of the church is: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, therefore I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mormon is a nickname given to us due to the sacred scripture know as the Book of Mormon which we read often, as well as the Bible. After much prayer, studying and faith, I have come to know for myself, that through the power of the Holy Ghost that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Lords true and living Church on the face of the earth. I have come to know that the people in the church are far from perfect, but the principles taught are perfect. This is the Saviors original, reestablished church on earth today. I am a member of this church because I know this is where He (The Savior) wants me. This is His church, and I will go with Him anywhere He has asked me to go. I am proud to be called a "Mormon."

How I live my faith

Any opportunity I get to share the gospel I will. The Savior declared in the New Testament "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen (Matthew 28:19-20). I remember my first year in college I was in an Anthropology class. An assignment given was to write about a culture or group of people where outsiders would find strange, but to that group is the normal. I decided to write my 8 page paper on the Temples, the House of the Lord. I was a little nervous, not knowing how my teacher would react, but it went well and I received a 98% on that paper, the highest in that class. I will take all opportunities I have to share what I believe.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Jamieson Livengood
We are commanded to do so, and our Love for the Savior. I have decided to become a missionary and proselyte because I love seeing the change in people as they come to accept the gospel. My love for the Savior is strong and deep and this is what He has asked us to do. Show more Show less
