Hi I'm Jeanene

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a family being the only girl. I am an aunt to the best nieces and nephews, in my opinion. I am a college student studying child development. I love working with children, spending time with family and friends, running, swimming, and going to Disneyland.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up my family went to a few different churches but I never felt grounded in a religion. In middle school I became friends with a few Mormons, but at that time I didn't know they were Mormon. (I didn't even know who Mormons were) As time went on and I became better friends with them I began to learn more about the church. I was invited to activities and eventually attended church. By the time I was a junior in high school I was going to church every week. Everything I was learning made so much sense to me and I felt good going to church. Though it felt right and I believed everything I didn't feel impressed to be baptized. I continued going to church and going to activities. My senior year of high school I went to a youth conference. It was an amazing experience, we did service for people and other churches in the community, members came and shared experiences they have had in their life and at the end there was a Testimony meeting, where the youth could stand up and bear their testimony. One of my friends said jokingly that I should go bear my testimony. (But really she wanted me to go do it) I kind of laughed it off but then I thought about it, questioned if I had a testimony. So right there I said a silent prayer. In that moment I felt the spirit so strongly, I could not deny it, so I did it. I bore my testimony on the power of prayer and I ended it with saying that I knew the church was true. I was baptized and confirmed into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints three years ago. I am a member because truth is taught in this church. I am a member because the Holy Spirit testified unto me of the truth. I am a member of this church because my friends reached out and shared their love for Christ with me. I love Christ and I know that he lives, he suffered and died for every single one of us so that one day we may all return to live with our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be an example to others. I love serving others even if it is just by extending a simple smile.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Reading from the scriptures is one of the most amazing experiences of my everyday life. As I read the scriptures daily I learn so much about Christ, about the love he has for every single one of us, and about how to live my everyday life in order to be more like Him. The scriptures allow me to better understand what my Heavenly Father asks of me. It allows me to see the love and joy found in following Christ's example and gives me the challenge to test these things. When I allow the teachings I read in the scriptures to mirror my thoughts, words, and actions I find the truth in these things. I am so much happier when I follow the words of Christ. I find that troubles still come but when I turn to Christ they do not seem as unbearable and I think they might be. Reading the scriptures allows my love and faith in Christ to grow. It allows me to have a foundation to build upon that is solid and good. It brings me closer to Christ so that I may align my desires with His and ultimately brings me greater joy than I would have ever expected. Show more Show less
