Hi I'm Heidi

I don't believe in coincidence. Overcast days make me happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a big family (seriously, we're big people). My siblings are my best friends. I LOVE to play basketball. Laughing makes everything better. Roller coasters, board games, skiing, peanut butter m&m's, thunderstorms, and country music are some of my favorite things. Having struggled with being a perfectionist all of my life, I have come to understand that the world's definition of "success" isn't accurate. We are sons and daughters of a living God. He knows us individually, and loves us perfectly. Nothing we ever achieve in this life will increase our worth, and nothing we ever fail at will make us less valuable to Him. I am uncertain about what experiences await me in this life, but secure in knowing there is purpose to it all, and I trust the Lord is involved at every moment, regardless of whether or not I'm willing to acknowledge that.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that it's possible to have all the friends in the world and still be lonely...to have strong family relationships and still feel unwanted. There is no substitute for having a personal relationship with our loving Heavenly Father. Because of my Savior, Jesus Christ, I can have that. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only true and living church on the face of the earth. Being a member of Christ's true church allows me full access to the blessings of His Atonement. Because this church is governed by Priesthood authority, I am able to make covenants with God through ordinances like baptism. Those covenants mean EVERYTHING to me---a covenant is a binding, two way promise. Conditional upon my worthiness, Heavenly Father can now bless me with EVEN MORE than He already has because I have agreed to step up to a higher level of commitment to Jesus Christ. The connection I already had with my Heavenly Father was strengthened when I entered into those agreements with Him. The church helps me to become a better version of myself each day. It helps me to understand why I have weaknesses and enables me to use them to come closer to the Savior. It shows me how I can invite the Spirit of the Lord into my life and elimate fear and doubt. Most importantly, it teaches me who I am and what my potential is, and I am beginning to develop a great sense of self worth and identity. I know that as I continue to live by the Lord's standard, He will help me to discover and develop my talents so I can fulfill my purpose on the earth and prepare to be an heir of His eternal glory.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as an official representative of the Church in the Texas Houston Mission. I talk to people everyday about Jesus Christ. I get to share my testimony with them, invite them to draw nearer to their Savior, and teach them about how they can receive additional truths and light that will bring them a greater measure of happiness. I try to live what I teach to others, patterning my life after the Savior's---loving and serving in His kingdom as I exercise faith, repent, renew my baptismal covenants each week at church as I take the sacrament, live worthy to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost, and strive to live His commandments always.
