Hi I'm Margo

I was raised in eastern Canada in a military family. I'm a professional genealogist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the mother of six married daughters and one sorta-adopted nephew and I'm fortunate to have a great husband, Jim. I am now retired from working as an accredited genealogist on the British floor of the Family History in Salt Lake City. My passion is genealogy but I also love to garden, crochet, travel, read and watch movies. Jim and I have 22 grandchildren and are grateful every day for their sweet spirits in our lives. We have recently been called to the Los Angeles Family History Center and will arrive there in mid-July 2014 to serve for one year. Eternal families make all the work here on earth worth it. The promise of eternity gives me hope that I can continue to become a better person and serve others more willingly.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were LDS but not as active when I was younger. However, they recommitted to activity as I turned eight years old. They went on to serve in the Church for many years, and I am grateful for their example. That set the path for me to focus on what was important. I don't know how I would have managed without the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. It gives me great joy and peace to know that I'm a daughter of God and I have purpose here on earth. To be able to serve others, especially through my genealogy expertise, gives me great satisfaction and a sure knowledge that we are all linked together as one great family back to our Savior. Life is crazy and exhausting at times but my testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ and his atoning sacrifice keep all of the other nonsense in perspective. I'm not perfect but I know that through my obedience and faithfulness to His teachings, my family and I will be able to return to Him.

How I live my faith

I have served in numerous callings in the Church, predominantly in music. I am a vocalist and love to praise The Lord in song. Recently Jim and I spent almost five years teaching 10 year olds in Primary and that was a fun calling, serving with him. From Girls Camp to Relief Society teacher, I have always benefited the most from my callings. I have recently reviewed the talk by President Ezra Taft Benson on "Pride" and his discussion that pride is 'enmity'. I am trying to examine my own life for pride because even judgmental thoughts I have of others makes me prideful.
