Hi I'm Laura

I like hiking, camping, and canyoneering. I play guitar and read lots of books. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was lucky to grow up outdoors in southern Utah. My husband did too and now that we're married we share the outdoors with our family. My husband does triathlons he recently completed an Ironman, and I get in a good hike when I can. I am a young mother with 4 small children. They demand so much attention, but I do enjoy being their mother. I read lots of children's books, but also find time to read 19th century novels and other classic literature. I've recently taken up guitar and enjoy finding time to look up music and learn to play my favorites. I enjoy backpacking, hiking, and camping, as well as rock climbing and canyoneering. I'm really good at baking things, and sometimes you can find me sewing if I get really motivated.

Why I am a Mormon

I have lived with the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life, and I have tried life without it. I much prefer life with it. I have studied the Bible and the Book of Mormon and I believe both to be words of God written by His prophets. I know that by living the teachings we find in the scriptures we can find happiness and answers to our problems. I have felt the Holy Ghost whisper to my heart that the teachings in the scriptures and the teachings of modern day prophets are true. As I have tried to do the things the prophets and the scriptures teach I have felt courage and strength to overcome difficulties and to become a better person. I have felt the love of Heavenly Father after I have poured out my heart in prayer and I know that he hears me and answers me when I pray. I believe Jesus Christ is the Savior of all mankind and that we are all brothers and sisters. I believe that Jesus Christ suffered for my sins and died on a cross and 3 days later was resurrected and that he now LIVES. I have felt the sweet deliverance of repentance and have poured out my heart in gratitude for the atonement of Jesus Christ that allows me to become clean again. All these reasons and many more, are why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I feel like I live my faith every day as a mother. Loving, serving, and sacrificing for my children is exactly what Christ did for us, so I feel like I am following his example. I am also part of one of the largest women's organizations in the world. I help visit women who live near me once a month to talk, share the Gospel, and fulfill any needs they have. I have found that God has given me unique talents and abilities to share with other people and though I am sometimes shy, I feel that God gives me courage. My capacity for loving others has grown through this service and I see how Jesus Christ loved others by serving them too.
