Hi I'm Cynthia

I'm a Mormon. I've been married for almost 39 years. I'm a mother of 6 children and a grandmother of 13.

About Me

I graduated from college with a degree in Home Ec. Education.  I got married and began having children shortly after graduating, so I never did teach in the public school system. However, I felt I used my education every day as I fulfilled the challenging role of a wife and a mother. After the children were raised, I was able to teach in a college setting, but not in the field I graduated in. My family brings me my greatest joy and any time I get to spend time with my children and grand children is special to me. I also enjoy reading, genealogy and learning new things. Currently, I am learning how to quilt. I also teach part-time, which I love. I have found that teaching is a skill you can learn and I have learned how to be a better teacher.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were Mormon so I always went to Church with them as a little girl. However, as I became a teenager and went to college, I realized it wasn't enough to go to a church just because of my parents. I decided I had to find out for myself if it were true. One of the first things I did was read the Book of Mormon. I had read it before, but not with the same purpose ie to know if it were true. When I finished it, I was far away from home and living in a home with some other girls. When I finished it, I knew it was true. With the excitement from my new found testimony, I decided to pray to express my excitement to the Lord. As I began to pray, a terrible feeling came over me and awful visions filled my mind. I wanted to jump in bed and pull the covers over my head as a small frightened young girl would do. However, I decided to pray more earnestly and I was filled with a sweet feeling of peace and love. I went to bed with a feeling of security and peace. I know I can never deny the feelings I had and I have just continued to have even more wonderful experiences that have proven to me that the Mormon Church is Christ's church here on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I have had the wonderful opportunity to give service to the Church in many different areas. I have taught small children and teenagers. I have also worked with woman in the Church as a teacher and as a leader. Currently I have the privilege of helping young woman, ages 18-30, organize and run the organization set up for the woman of the Church. My favorite thing to do is to be able to talk to and hopefully have a positive influence on those who may be struggling for one reason or another. I feel we all have trials and one of the purposes of life is to help others get through those trials and lift the hands that hang down.
