Hi I'm Sara

I'm a sister and a aunt. I'm a returned missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a big family with three brothers and three sisters and when I was young I hated having to share a room and getting handy-down clothing. When I graduated high school I was so excited to leave the nest and so went to college far away from my family. In my sophomore year I was diagnosed with chronic depression which really became an opportunity for me to come closer to my Heavenly Father as I learned to apply the healing aspects of the gospel to my life. After my junior year of college, I felt that the Lord wanted me to serve a mission...which was not in my plans! But I ended up taking a leave of absence from school and was called to serve a mission in the Philippines. Those eighteen months started out rough as I continued to suffer from depression. However, I learned so much about my Savior's love as He helped me teach the gospel to the amazing people I met in the Philippines. My first six months of my mission I couldn't wait to go home now, everyday I wish I could go back. After my mission I returned to school and finally graduated this May! Now my life is in another transition period as I try to decide what I should do with my life. I love music and singing. I am a voracious reader and I especially like fantasy and science fiction books. One of my favorite things is coloring with crayons and I love to watch old movies.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church but it wasn't until I was in college that I gained an assurance that the Church is true. The longer I was away from home, the more I grew to appreciate the example and love of my parents as I was growing up. As I learned to stand on my own, I found myself turning more to Jesus Christ as a source of strength and comfort. The teachings of the Church give me peace and guidance in my life so even though the world is in chaos I know that I have nothing to fear as long as I live the commandments of Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

As a single female, the Church has given me a community of friends and family even though I'm far away from my parents and siblings. I am blessed by the opportunity to share my testimony and experiences in the gospel every week and I am constantly amazed by the sweet spirit of my fellow brothers and sisters. I love my church because it's not just a Sunday-thing...it's an everyday thing!
