Hi I'm Dot

I am from Las Vegas now living AU. I have seven children & four grandkids. I am a childbirth educator and doula. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have been married for 27 years and we have three sons(the youngest are twins), four daughter and four grandkids. I am a busy stay at home mom and teach childbirth, lactation education, and a doula and I am continuing studies in these areas along with natural health care.. I love spending time with family. We enjoy camping, singing, theater, art, playing games, church activities, family dinners and going to Disneyland! I enjoy getting out into the community and volunteering my time and meeting people.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an atheist home. As a little girl I always wondered about God. I asked my parents about Jesus but was told that he was not not real: he was like a fairy tale character yet in my heart I knew that wasn't true. At Christmas time I would wake up at night when the house was quiet I would sit in the living room but instead of looking a the beautiful tree and gifts I would instead gaze at the nativity scene. I would sit for hours wondering about Jesus and God. I knew the story of Jesus was not a fairy tale: I knew it was true and somehow I needed to find out more. I did not understand Jesus when died why God had left the rest of his children here on earth all alone with no one to guide us or to teach the people today about what we needed to know so we could live with him again. This bothered me for years and as I reached middle and high school I searched out many religions for truth. Then one day of my friends gave me a Book of Mormon to read and also invited me to learn more about the church by meeting with the missionaries. This is when I discovered the the questions I had that had troubled me since childhood. God didn't leave me and the alone or love me any less then the people that lived while Jesus was on the earth. I had a Heavenly Father who loves me. He has living modern day prophets that live on the earth today to guide and direct his children so we could return to his presence and live with him again. I also learned that the Book of Mormon was another witness of Christ to guide the people in this day along with the Bible. I learned from the missionaries and studied on my own and prayed and asked Heavenly Father is it was true. I received the most peaceful confirmation that it was true. That is why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I try to live my life by doing the best I can to reach out to those around me not only in my home but in the community. I try to be honest in all of my dealings and live the commandments the best way I can. I strive to be kind to my fellow man. I attend church each week and currently help in our church's children organization called "Primary" as a nursery leader to the little children. I am also very active our women's organization called the "Relief Society" which is one of the largest and oldest women's organizations in the world. I have enjoyed making emergency kits, hygiene kits, school kits, new born baby kits, quilts that have been used for those around the world suffering from natural disasters. Recently we collected 101 dresses to for women in a shelter so they would have one nice outfit so they can have something to wear for job interviews.
