Hi I'm Dustin

First I was an atheist, then became a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy drawing and sketching. My drawings are mostly random and abstract. I also enjoy learning more about Mormonism as well as other religions. I am a sophomore at college and I take my education very seriously. While I am not studying I spend my time with friends, and in getting to know new people.

Why I am a Mormon

For my whole life I have always been committed to science and I have always used science as a way to disprove the existence of God. I realized a few years ago an important fact: science can never figure out all the answers and that there will always be unanswered questions. This fact also applied to the existence of God. I realized this, but I disregarded it and was still very stubborn to joining any church. a few months later missionaries knocked on our door. My parents let them in and were receiving the first lessons. I joined in on one of the lessons, and I was little impressed with the missionaries. The missionaries came again and I joined in on the next lesson. This lesson was about the Plan of Happiness. The Plan of Happiness is an explanation of why man is on the earth, what is God's relationship with man, and more importantly (in my case) where man was before he was born and where man will go after death. I found the lesson to be the perfect answer to my questions. This lesson not only defeated my criticisms of God but gave me new understanding about life. What was even more captivating than the lesson was the feeling that I felt. It felt like there was electricity flowing inside me. I took this feeling as the presence and evidence of a divine being. The missionaries showed up again and after the lesson they gave me and my mother an invitation to Church. I reluctantly took this invitation and at the conclusion of church services I felt that same feeling I had earlier and I felt accepted among the members. At the end of summer I was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The past two years have been rough but the things I have experienced are more than worth it. I know this Church is true and I know that God lives. Although we cannot see him I know we can still recognize Him.

How I live my faith

I am very active in the Church, despite being in a family that is half member and half non-member. I have had several leadership callings in the past as hometeaching assignments (which is a duty to visit other members and see how they are doing). But the best way to live my faith is just through being friendly and a good role model. I am also going to be serving a mission for the Church very soon. I want to serve this Church as a missionary because I have seen the effect the Gospel has had on me over the past few years. I want to do the same for others, in a way to express my appreciation, and my desire to help make other people's lives better.
