Hi I'm Doug

I am married and have a 1 yr old baby girl. I am a Computer Programmer for Novell. I love soccer, computers, and music.

About Me

I am married to my lovely wife, and we have a baby girl. I enjoy spending time with them. I also enjoy soccer, computers, singing, playing the guitar, and most board games. My favorite foods are Indian, Thai, meat in general, chocolate, and ice cream. For work, I write computer software for Novell. My primary focus is Java.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because of how it blesses me in my daily life. I also know that it is the true church, and that if I continue to follow it's teachings, I will return to live with God, again. When I was 15, I read the Book of Mormon, for a class I was in. I got to the end of the Book, where it promises that if you pray and ask God if the book is true, you will receive an answer. I did this, but received no answer. This scared me, because I was raised in this faith. I started to doubt if my parents were right. This fear led me to truly read the Book for the right reasons, and not for a class. As I read the Book, this time, I didn't have to get to the end to feel the warm promptings of the Holy Ghost telling me it was true. I started to remember all the times I had felt the Spirit, and when I got to the end of the Book, I received an answer that it was true. It didn't come as a strong vision, but a small, reassuring, warm feeling.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday, and am over the Webelos boy scouts, in my ward. I help these young kids know how important it is to be a good citizen and and a good disciple of Christ. I read my scriptures and pray, every day. Family home evenings are tough with a baby, but we try our best to have a spiritual lesson, every week. I live my faith by being a good example to all around me, and sharing the gospel with friends. I love missionary work, and look for opportunities to do it.
