Hi I'm Katelyn

I love to sing and dance. I speak Japanese. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently studying to become an elementary school teacher at a university. I have always had a deep passion for learning and discovery and love getting to be able to do that alongside students. I served a proselyting mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sendai, Japan from 2008-2010. While there, I gained a deep love and appreciation for the culture, language, but most importantly, the people of Japan. I am engaged right now and will soon be married. I love music! I also love reading and writing. I recently spent time working on obtaining a skill in origami and am now working on becoming a better cook. I enjoy jogging and yoga and doing what I can to make my body feel good. I think one of the most important things about me is that I love people! I love spending time with people, talking with them, getting to know and understand different people--I think people are wonderful and fascinating.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon simply because of the happiness and peace it brings to my life. I most certainly have spent time living the commandments and standards taught within the church, reading from the Book of Mormon and Bible, and praying to my Heavenly Father to know of its truth. I received an answer that it is, indeed, true. However, I think that the most impressive thing I have noticed on my journey in following Christ is that when I do the things that that the gospel tells me to do--I am filled with happiness. I know that these things are given by a loving Heavenly Father who knows the only true pathway to happiness and wants us to find it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be there for others around me. I am currently a group leader for a small group that meets once a week. We sing hymns together, pray together, learn together, and have fun activities together. I also live my faith by trying to have a close personal relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. I try to be introspective and seek areas for improvement and change and constantly be trying to become better. I read from the words of the scriptures and modern day prophets and I pray to my Heavenly Father. I live my life by trying to become more like the Savior.
