Hi I'm Julie

I'm a Mormon and I love life! I am a wife, a mother and a friend. I like scrapbooking, traveling, playing the piano and ASL.

About Me

I grew up on a farm in Palmyra, Utah. This background taught me the value of hard work and I am so grateful for that. I knew from an early age that I wanted to be a teacher and I have been able to fulfill that dream now for almost 20 years. Currently I work as a mentor for new teachers and interns and love watching them grow. I married my best friend (we met in elementary school but didn't realize we were perfect for each other until the age of 25). We have two teenage daughters who love dancing, traveling, shopping and other normal teenage things. They are delightful...I'm a lucky mom! We also have a poodle who is spoiled but makes it easy because she is so sweet. I love to scrapbook and make homemade cards for people. I like cooking new things and growing a garden. I love seeing new places in the world and we may not have a large house, but we have taken many family vacations together. I love reading and learning new things. I highly value education for myself and my girls. I have a special interest in elementary mathematics and enjoy teaching classes to other teachers. I truly believe that attitude makes the difference in everything in life. Being positive and grateful makes each day better. These are very important values to me and impact everything I do. I enjoy talking with and listening to others. I find joy in the success of people around me and truly love serving others. I have a charmed life and am very blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I know that its teaching are true. I know that Jesus Christ established His church while He ministered here upon the earth and that His gospel has been restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. He has made it possible to be resurrected and live again with God through my faith and my actions here on earth. I know that God is my Heavenly Father and that He knows me, He loves me, and He listens to my prayers. I know that the Holy Ghost can direct me in my life when I make good choices and when I listen to his promptings. I know this because Heavenly Father has answered questions, confirmed decisions, and given me direction through the Holy Ghost speaking to my heart and my mind. I have had help in deciding who to marry, where to attend college, which job I should take, how to solve problems, how to be a better parent, and how to fulfill needs I have in my life. This knowlege brings me such joy! Knowing that I'm not alone in this journey here on earth; and knowing that my family has the potential to be together forever because of being sealed together in the temple gives me purpose and direction. Being a mormon helps me become a better person because I see the bigger picture in everything. I want to be more Christlike and ultimately, learn to love everyone - not just accept everyone or tolerate everyone, but really love everyone as Christ did. I am buoyed up by the teachings of the Savior which I learn from the scriptures, both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and I gain insight and hope from the writings of the ancient prophets found within its pages. I also learn know which choices to make to bring me happiness and peace through the teachings of a modern living prophet here on the earth. Even though life is filled with challenges of all kinds, I have hope, comfort, and joy. I love being a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live my faith through the things I do everyday...not just on Sunday. I live my faith by trying my best to teach my family of Jesus Christ and His teachings. I want my daughters to know where to turn to for peace and direction and that is to God. I read scriptures and other words of the prophets. I pray for guidance but mostly to express gratitude. I love attending church each Sunday to be with others who are also daily trying to live what they believe. It lifts my spirits to be with them and to learn more about the gospel together. I have served in the church in many different ways. I served a mission to California and Iowa teaching the gospel to people who are deaf. What a tremendous blessing that was in my life. For many years, I was able to work with children and teach the gospel through music. I would teach the children songs that had messages of Christ and his teachings and the Holy Ghost would testify that the words we would sing were true. Now I am working with the women of the church in our area (ward). I have the wonderful opportunity to serve as the president of the group of women where I get to teach lessons, organize the visiting teachers, help plan activities to strengthen their testimonies and their homes, organize service to help the women with any needs they have, and more. Most of all I get to know the women in my area and try in any way to help them live the gospel, overcome challenges, and be happy. I love the women I get to work with because of their strength, their examples and their love of the Savior. I also get to visit teach several women in their homes each month and see how I can help meet their needs. Serving others is truly the way to make your own problems seem less significant. It is God's way of watching out for His children here on earth and His way of helping us to individually grow and find joy. I hope that I am being in instrument in the Lord's hands and that one day He will say "Well done my good and faithful servant."
