Hi I'm Andrew

I just learned to pop a wheely on my motorcycle, I am an environmentalist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

HI there, I am 27 and I have three kids, and arguably the best wife on the planet, at least the North American continent! I was born in Winnipeg, but grew up in Burnaby BC. I have been a member of the LDS faith for just over five years now. I joined about a month after my first son was born. I ride a honda dual sport motorcycle that I now have to sell to afford my new (but very old and rusty) landcruiser that runs on vegetable oil. I love mechanics, sports, hiking, camping, late night adventures, teaching, and canoeing. I am currently working towards my Masters in Special Education. I grew up thinking that Santa Claus was God so its obvious that I did not know much about religion. My wife has been a member her whole life and when we were dating she tried to teach me about Heavenly Father, but I was not really interested. When my son was born I decided to pray on my own for the first real time in my life. I opened the book of mormon and read only one verse of scripture and from that moment I knew that God was listening and answered my prayer. I have had countless experiences in the last five years that have bolstered my testimony in the Saviour and His love for me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because in my heart I know it is the true place for me. I have lots of intellectual reasons of why I joined the church, but ultimately it came down to my relationship with God and how it makes me feel. There are enough "facts" out there that support and diminish God and the churches that support him and because of that I believe I can only rely on what I perceive to be true. Through prayer and living the commandments as best as I can I have learned and felt his love and power to the point that I cannot deny his existence. I have worked through a lot of common questions in the last five years and have found more than sufficient answers for any that I have had. Those answers were confirmed by a feeling of comfort. I am now a men's group leader and even though it takes a lot of time and effort, it feels so right when I do the work. I learned early in my conversion to judge them (prophets, churches, leaders etc) by their fruits, and when the prophet and the leaders in my local area only push me to be a better man, a better father, a better member of my community I also feel like I am in the right place.

How I live my faith

In all my actions I try to act as Jesus would. I try to be a nice guy when I there are slow drivers on the road. I try to help people out when they look flustered or if they drop something. I try to share as much love and time with my children and wife. I pray at every meal and before I fall asleep at night. I try to keep my body clean and pure (except ice cream...) I go to church every Sunday and serve in and out of the church. I watch and listen to movies and music that is uplifting and not full of cursing. Bascially I try my best to follow the advice and counsel of the prophet.
